Summary:
College of Lake County is seeking a 3rd Shift Community Service Officer to join our Campus Police Department. United in the spirit of teamwork, the CLC Police Department is committed to providing the highest quality of police services to the people who learn, work, visit and teach at the College of Lake County's three campuses.
Under the administrative supervision of the Lead Community Service Officer, the Community Service Officer assists College personnel and visitors, and enforces College rules and regulations, works in tandem with the Police Officers when called upon, provides service and protection to the people and property of the College of Lake County, and is proactive in providing a safe environment for employees, students, and the public.

Required Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Valid driver’s license.
3. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to patrol on foot at all facilities.
5. Ability to carry or drag 150 pounds.
6. Ability to pass a thorough background investigation.
7. Proven ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Desired Qualifications:
1. Law enforcement or security experience.
2. Associate degree or higher.
3. Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Special Instructions Summary: This is primarily a 3rd shift position, 11:00 pm - 7:00 am, 5 days a week. May include weekends and holidays.
Pay Rate: $17.54/HR.

Summary of Essential Functions:
1. Patrols parking lots, athletic fields, and buildings/grounds to prevent theft and vandalism, using computerized tour recorder for all tour watches.
2. Issues parking tickets.
3. Assists with traffic management.
4. Advises Police Officers of unusual problems or violations of federal or state law.
5. Enforces college rules and regulations.
6. Monitors and reports unauthorized access to buildings and grounds.
7. Performs radio and telephone dispatch duties as necessary.
8. Monitors fire detection equipment and acts accordingly to any emergency.
9. Reports and/or corrects fire and safety hazards and emergency problems.
10. Turns off lights, and locks/unlocks buildings and rooms as required.
11. Provides escorts to staff, faculty, and students upon request.
12. Testifies in court as requested.
13. Completes personal injury reports, general incident reports, or other reports as directed by department procedures.
14. Provides motorist assistance within established guidelines.
15. Monitors traffic and road conditions and reports problems and concerns.
16. Performs checks on all call boxes, camera system, and building conditions.
17. Responds to emergency callouts.
18. Performs other related duties as assigned.
