Job Summary
The Electric Shop Supervisor oversees the electrical distribution system on campus and manages the operations of the electric shop. This position also oversees the elevator maintenance and renewal program. They develop maintenance standards, coordinate maintenance and remodeling projects, monitor project plans, inspect work, and supervise personnel to ensure compliance with project timeline, plans and safety regulations. This person is responsible for motivating people in this shop to fulfill the department's mission to provide responsive, quality customer service to the campus community, exercising prudent budget oversight and fiscal responsibility, following and reporting on new technology, practicing sustainable maintenance and operations methods, and empowering your workforce to reach their full potential.

As a full-time staff, the incumbent will earn 176 hours of vacation per fiscal year and granted 176 hours (22 days) of initial entitlement sick leave available for use during the first 18 months of employment (will earn 96 hours (12 days) of sick leave per fiscal year after the initial entitlement period). These numbers are prorated for appointment percentage. Employees will also be granted 36 hours (4.5 days) of personal holiday hours per year and nine legal paid holidays.

Starting salary is $106,000 - $112,000


Minimum Qualifications
Applicants for this vacancy must:
  • Proof of possession of a current Master Electrician license OR proof of possession of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
  • Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience with changing work rules, processes and practices.
  • Evidence of fire alarm training or experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of customers and coworkers.


Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates will also have:
  • One or more years of successful supervisory experience in the electrical trade OR evidence of solid lead/foreman experience.
  • Evidence of elevator work and/or supervision
  • Success leading and performing journeyman level work in the installation, maintenance, modification, and repair of electrical distribution systems.
  • Proof of successful completion of OSHA 10 safety training or equivalent safety training program
  • Demonstrated work experience in higher education
  • Evidence of possessing knowledge and skills of industry best practices of the electrical trade.
  • Evidence of participation in industry professional organizations.
  • Strong working knowledge and proficient use of a CMMS, such as TMA.
