The State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill is an accredited polytechnic college that is primarily baccalaureate and residential. SUNY Cobleskill is one of few institutions in the United States where an undergraduate student may also choose to earn an associate degree. Job Description:

SUNY Cobleskill is seeking talented and innovative faculty to join the college community as we build a new vision for our second century as a college of agriculture and technology. The successful candidate will join the faculty in the Information Technology Programs and become part of a dedicated team focused on providing rich and meaningful educational experiences for our students. The successful candidate will teach existing as well as new courses in the Bachelor of Technology programs in Information Technology and Cybersecurity, as well as the associate's program in Computer Information Systems. This is a teaching-focused position; however, research and other forms of scholarship are expected. Areas of responsibility include:

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach a 4-4 course load in a variety of modalities that may include face-to-face, online, and hybrid
  • Provide engaging instruction that employs an active learning approach
  • Engage in collaborative and/or interdisciplinary teaching efforts
  • Participate in the assessment of course, student learning, and program outcomes
  • Provide 5 weekly office hours for students

Advisement

  • Advise students on their academic programs and track completion of their requirements
  • Advise students toward their academic and career goals

Program Development

  • Participate in annual program assessment activities
  • Participate in program data analysis as well as develop and implement recommendations for curriculum revisions as needed
  • Design new curriculum as needed to meet emerging needs
  • Demonstrated interest in development of interdisciplinary courses and/or programs that explore the intersection between information technology and agriculture, food, and health as well as rural computing in general

Academic and College Commitment

  • Serve on college-wide committees
  • Engage in service to the Information Technology Programs
  • Engage in the academic and organizational life of the college
  • Engage in ongoing professional development

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

A doctoral degree (PhD, other) in Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or a closely related field from an accredited University is required. Applicants who are ABD and anticipating an earned degree within a year of position start date, will be considered. A commitment to teaching excellence and student success is essential. Candidates should have hands-on technical skills in at least one or more areas including computer programming, information security, web development, networking, and/or database technologies as well as operating systems.

Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the aforementioned minimum qualifications, it is preferred the candidate also have: 

  • Experience with online learning, online instruction, and online course development
  • Demonstrated ability to teach diverse populations
  • Demonstrated ability to engage in scholarly activities
  • Technology industry experience is a plus

Additional Information:

  • The anticipated start date is August 2022.
  • This is a full-time, tenure-track (10-month) appointment.
  • The salary range is $60,000 - $65,000.
  • This position offers full New York State benefits which are among the most comprehensive in the country.
