Located in sunny Miami, Florida, St. Thomas University is a private, non-profit university that offers 39 undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate degrees at its picturesque 144-acre campus and through distance learning. POSITION SUMMARY

The Institute for Ethical Leadership at St. Thomas University, Miami, is committed to and passionate about advancing our university mission of developing ethical leaders for our global communities. Understanding this, we invite applications for multiple part-time adjunct faculty positions. Major responsibilities for this position include teaching courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in both traditional and online delivery methodologies. Additionally, opportunities to contribute to and lead innovative research projects and service that advance the broad fields of leadership, leadership learning, and leadership development within the context of ethical leadership are available. Graduate faculty will also have the option to serve on and chair doctoral dissertation and master’s thesis/capstone project committees.

This position will report to the Executive Director of the Institute for Ethical Leadership at St. Thomas University, Miami (STU) and teaching responsibilities will extend across the following academic programs based on academic qualifications, subject matter expertise, and instructor preferences and passions:
1. Minor in Ethical Leadership
2. Bachelor of Arts in Ethical Leadership
3. Master of Arts in Ethical Leadership
4. Master of Arts in Ethical Leadership with a Specialization in Higher Education
5. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Ethical Leadership
6. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Ethical Leadership with a Specialization in Criminal
Justice
7. Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Ethical Leadership with a Specialization in Higher
Education).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Degree conferral of a Ph.D. or terminal degree in leadership or a closely related field from an accredited academic institution is required with a to serve at the graduate level.
  • Degree conferral of a Master’s degree in leadership or a closely related field from an accredited academic institution is required with a to serve at the undergraduate level.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated competence in leadership theory and application with an emphasis on ethical leadership
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in developing and coordinating undergraduate and graduate student programs and activities
  • Skilled or willingness to develop skill in providing high-quality engaged learning via formal (academic courses) and informal (instructor/student mentoring/coaching) settings
  • Evidence of well-developed, collegial, and collaborative communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to provide expert classroom instruction, curriculum development, and program assessment
  • Demonstrated ability to teach across a spectrum of ethical leadership courses.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of well-developed, collegial, and collaborative communications and commitment to service and the pursuit of a research agenda
  • Teaching experience in leadership, and specifically ethical leadership content areas
  • A well-developed background (or strong aspirations to develop a teaching record) in engaged learning
  • Experience in online/hybrid teaching
  • Pragmatic teaching applications and approaches ideally informed and enhanced by industry experience
  • An interest in and commitment to interacting effectively with businesses, government organizations, non-profit/community, and higher education institutions locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally
  • An interest in and commitment to helping build ethical leadership initiatives on campus and in the community
  • Strong evidence of high-quality research capabilities in leadership and ethical leadership, particularly research with industry, community, and student success outcomes/impacts
  • Awareness of and sensitivity to educational goals tied to equitable and just practices that advance the success of diverse student populations.
