Associate Director for Advising, Persistence and Success

Reporting to the Director for Advising, Persistence and Success, the Associate Director for Advising, Persistence and Success (Associate Director III) oversees the degree completion of all undergraduate freshman students or other students as assigned by caseload in the Center for Advising, Persistence and Success. The Associate Director designs and implements large-scale on campus advising programs to facilitate the advising and registration of students; creates equitable options for out-of-state and international students; and manages all efforts related to student advising for the assigned student population. The Associate Director develops collaborative efforts with University stakeholders and provides overall leadership and direction for their assigned caseload; develops, implements and evaluates general education policy and compliance programs, pre-and outside-the-major advising programs and registration practices; and demonstrates specialized knowledge for their assigned cohort and general knowledge of broader fields, combining to create a holistic approach to student advising, persistence and success. The Associate Director will also assist with freshmen and transfer student orientation and registration. This position requires travel and a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours. Employee must be able to work a flexible schedule including morning and evening shifts to allow for the Center to be staffed for 12 hours. This is not a remote position.

Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college and a minimum of two years of advising experience with college students is required. Candidate must be able to successfully review transcripts; be student centered with excellent customer service skills; have experience with the use of technology, including student tracking systems; and have strong computer skills, including use of Microsoft Office Suite. Ellucian and Colleague experience is preferred. Candidate must also have excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills and a documented ability to lead and be a part of a student services team.
