POSITION: Northeastern Illinois University is recruiting a pool of qualified candidates to teach courses on a part time basis for the Department of Computer Science. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis for the 2022-2023 academic year.

SALARY: Based on qualifications and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS: MSc or Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related field. Candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching and student success. Applications are sought in all areas of computer science, from introductory programming, object orientation, software development and networking, to operating systems, artificial intelligence, machine learning and robotics among others.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Northeastern Illinois University is a primarily teaching institution. The candidate will be responsible for teaching a minimum of one course during an academic semester, and a maximum of three. The course load is subject to the availability of the candidate and program need. Part-time adjuncts are hired on a per course basis each semester, and teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment for the following semester. The teaching hours for a part-time adjunct vary and can include day, evening, and weekend classes.

UNIVERSITY: Northeastern Illinois University is a fully accredited public university serving around 6,000 full and part-time undergraduate and graduate students in the Chicago metropolitan area. NEIU engages its diverse campus community in a rich environment of teaching, learning, and scholarship. The University offers more than 80 academic programs in the arts, humanities, social sciences, STEM disciplines, education, and business. Northeastern is recognized as one of the most diverse universities in the United States and is federally designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution. NEIU's main campus is located on a 67-acre campus in a residential neighborhood on the northwest side of Chicago. Other campus locations include our El Centro campus building, the Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies, Chicago Teachers' Center, and the University Center of Lake County.

Currently, we have ten tenured/tenure track faculty, 3 full-time instructors, and 14 adjunct faculty. Computer Science has one of the largest departments on campus, with 400 undergraduate majors and 75 graduate students. The major areas of study include computer science theories, databases, computer networks, cybersecurity, information technology, artificial intelligence, data science, etc.
