Job Description:

Clark University's Goddard Library seeks a collaborative, creative, and forward-thinking professional to serve as the Student Success and Inclusion Librarian. Reporting to the Access and Curricular Resources Librarian, the incumbent will liaise with academic support offices across the university to advocate for and coordinate library involvement in efforts to support student success in a variety of areas. The librarian will also serve as coordinator of library social media and is part of the team responsible for student staffing and training for the Library Service Desk. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about collaborating with other library staff to identify new opportunities for library sponsored programming and be equipped to play a leadership role in developing programming in these areas.

 

 Major Responsibilities: 

  • Develops and implements innovative programming to promote student success and foster inclusive learning environments and experiences
  • In collaboration with other library staff, identifies new areas and programming opportunities where library services, or information literacy instruction can be implemented in co-curricular environments.
  • Leads social media and communications efforts for Goddard Library in engaging students, faculty, and staff, and members of the community in library services and programming.
  • Supports staffing and student employee supervision and training at the Library Service Desk.
  • Liaises with academic support departments (e.g. Multicultural/First Gen. Student Support, Student Accessibility Services, Residential Life and Housing, Counseling Center, Wellness Education, Office of Academic Success, Office of Academic Advising, etc.) as an ambassador on behalf of the Library to advocate for library involvement in efforts to support student success in various areas of academic life on campus
  • Engagement in ongoing assessment of library offerings and makes recommendations for improvements to services based on feedback from stakeholders and other data.
  • Develops resources and instructional aids for students to promote information literacy and academic success through co-curricular activities and library programming.
  • Assists in managing small teams of student employees to complete projects, outreach efforts, and data gathering
  • Participates in diversity, equity, and inclusion work at the library
  • Executes/Interprets library policies relating to borrowing and access to promote equitable access to library resources while promoting a safe and inclusive library environment
  • Participates in library committees and other library projects as appropriate. 
  • Keeps current in best practices related to academic librarianship.
  • Participates in the library profession through attending conferences, serving in leadership roles in professional organizations, presenting, or publishing.

 

 

Requirements:

  • A master's degree in Library and Information Science (or its equivalent) from an ALA accredited program or its international equivalent.
  • Two (2) years' experience in education, library service, or similar
  • High proficiency with technology including email, Microsoft Office, and other related communication tools, and ability and willingness to learn new tools
  • Highly motivated, creative and imaginative problem-solver
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from staff, patrons, and members of the community, individually and in a group setting
  • Effective time management skills in planning, scheduling, and coordinating Library programs and outreach services
  • Flexibility and curiosity in exploring new technologies and trends as they relate to access services
  • Prior experience working with and contributing to a diverse workplace with the ability to interact effectively with a broad range of constituents on campus
  • Interest in engagement with the profession, including engagement with service opportunities, presenting, and publishing.
