Position Summary

The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an exceptional and visionary leader for the position of Director of the Center for Vaccines and Immunology. The Center conducts basic, applied and clinical research to better understand the pathogenesis of disease and to apply this knowledge to more effectively treat and prevent disease. The Center’s mission is to develop innovative approaches disease prevention, including novel vaccines and biologics targeting diseases of One Health importance.

The Director reports to the UGA CVM Dean and serves on the College’s Administrative Council. The Director in collaboration with the Center membership provides overall direction and scientific leadership to the Center’s activities. Key responsibilities of the position include overseeing strategic planning development, including prioritizing the Center’s goals and objectives; promoting high quality collaborative research and advancing the scientific exchange of information within the College, University and scientific and medical communities at large; developing, directing, coordinating or assisting with the Center’s translational and clinical research programs; clinical trial protocol development, design and analysis and regulatory compliance and basic and translational immunobiology research; and development and deployment of novel high throughput automated immunoassays. The Director oversees program operations, including personnel, financial and administrative management.

Along with the primary responsibility of leading the Center and its team of faculty and staff, the successful candidate is also expected to establish their own cutting-edge independent research program.
