A member of the University Communications and Marketing (UCM) team, the Video Producer/Editor creates content that helps elevate Miami University’s reputation and brand, communicates with university audiences, and tells the university’s story.

 

The Video Producer/Editor leads all facets of video production, including, but not limited to, concept and storyboard development, location scouting, filming, editing, manipulating/creating basic graphics, and delivering professional broadcast quality audio and video on a variety of video productions from social media clips to video news stories to TV commercials.

 

The successful candidate is a self-motivated, resourceful, adaptable, efficient, collaborative, and highly creative video storyteller, experienced in developing and pursuing original ideas that engage our audiences and support strategic university initiatives.

Part of the storytelling team, this position shoots videos for a wide variety of audiences, including prospective and current students, alumni, employees, and the general public. Working collaboratively across UCM and the university, the videographer is committed to a high standard of quality and is comfortable filming and editing independently and in a group setting.

Due to the nature of the work, this position is in-person, primarily on the Oxford campus.

 

 

 

Duties:

 

  • Lead all facets of video production, including, but not limited to, concept and storyboard development, location scouting, interviewing, filming, editing, creating basic graphics, and delivering professional broadcast quality audio and video on a variety of video productions from social media clips to video news stories to TV commercials. Work collaboratively across the UCM team to create video content for the university’s website, social media channels (including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok), digital campaigns, and email messages. Contribute to strategic initiatives and objectives by developing original video concepts and initiating new video projects to tell the story of the university and its students, faculty, and staff, across social media posts, TV commercials, news stories, and digital advertisements. Organize, coordinate, and plan the logistical details of video production work, including scheduling, equipment identification, location scouting, itinerary development and more. Specify the staff, facilities and equipment needed for each production, and obtain necessary copyright permissions and releases. Coordinate all aspects of video post-production including the selection of scenes, transitions, special effects, graphics, narration, voiceover, background music, and brand each video consistently in accordance with the university’s brand standards. Work on multiple projects at the same time, maintain deadlines, communicate consistently with supervisors and project managers and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining the highest standards of quality control. Manage, maintain, and organize all video equipment (including, but not limited to, cameras, lenses, lighting, and audio equipment) and video assets. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in film production, broadcast journalism or related field OR five years of relevant experience. Strong portfolio of video work. Experience maintaining project timelines and handling multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to work extended hours beyond the typical business day, nights and weekends as required.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in all facets of video production, including concept and storyboard development, location scouting, schedule planning, talent management, filming, editing, organizing, and archiving short-form and long-form videos. Ability to think creatively and approach a wide variety of projects from new angles. Expert-level proficiency using video creation/editing software such as Final Cut Pro, AVID, Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder, etc. Expert-level proficiency using professional video equipment, including but not limited to, DSLR cameras, lenses, microphones and audio equipment, and lighting equipment.

 

 

Skills:

Salary/Grade:

 

$60,000-$65,000
