Official Title: Locksmith Business Title: Locksmith Employment Class: University Staff FTE: 1.0 Compensation: $17.00-$20.43 FLSA Status: Non-exempt Terms of Employment: Continuous Position Summary:

Installs and maintains locks and control systems to ensure the safety and security of students and employees. Maintains and updates computerized key and lock records to ensure availability of up-to-date facility security information.

Must pass a pre-work screen to ensure the ability to perform essential physical functions of the position. Must have a valid WI driver’s license and be authorized to drive a University vehicle upon appointment. This position will require a criminal background investigation.

Responsibilities
  • Installs and services various electronic control systems and locks
  • Collects, enters, and updates computerized key records
  • Analyzes and interprets hardware, door schedules, and lock patterns, updates information based on user requests and needs
  • Develops pinning schedules for master lock system(s) for multiple buildings
Qualifications Required:
  • Knowledge and experience in design, planning, installation, maintenance, and repair of door locks, cylinders, cores and related door hardware.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with members of the campus community.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity with one hand to operate hand and power tools, manually complete paperwork such as recording items on work orders and receiving documents.
  • Perform tasks requiring standing, bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus to attend to various maintenance tasks across campus.
  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move equipment or components weighing a maximum of 50 pounds.
  • Must be physically able to lift arms above head to reach equipment installations.
  • Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately and safely with minimal direct supervision.
