Job Description:

The Specialist-Uniforms and Supplies, under the direction of the Bookstore Director, oversees the uniform and supply process for all required academic program, the specialist maintains purchasing responsibilities for uniforms as well as academic, office, and medical supplies; follows CSCC purchasing procedures, prepares purchase orders, invoices, and credit memos for the accounting office; while providing exceptional customer service to assist students, employees, and guests of the college. The Specialist will also serve as a lead team member to support the retail floor and is a mentor to student employees.

Uniform Merchandising and Inventory Management

Oversees the uniform process for all required academic program uniforms and supplies. Creates effective partnerships with faculty to meet the uniform needs, establishes dates for fittings, sends students communications, and conducts on site department fittings. Takes responsibility for merchandising the dedicated uniform department on the retail floor and ensures there is adequate stock. Maintains uniform and supplies updates on the website as well as the oversight for the uniform
order form. Works closely with bookstore buyer to maintain adequate stock of academic, medical, and office supplies. Supports the buyer to fulfill department special orders and/or donation requests. Determines allocation of funds and creates
blanket purchase orders for associated merchandise accounts. Supports the bookstore buyer to facilitate special events such as graduation, author signings, and other events as determined. Participates in store inventory and cycle counts. Works
with other members of the Retail/GM team to merchandise products in a creative and visually pleasing manner. Also works with the Retail/GM team to upload images and product descriptions to the bookstore e-commerce site. Works closely
with Bookstore leadership team to identify and communicate sales floor needs and opportunities. Takes initiative to remedy any issues within store guidelines.

Bookstore Operations

Maintains working knowledge of Bookstore practices. Uses knowledge base to make reasonable judgment calls on the sales floor on a situational basis. Provides cross functional support with a variety of Bookstore projects or in other areas of the
Bookstore which includes supporting the Coordinator with the opening operation of the Bookstore. Contributes to team environment by supporting the goals of the Bookstore.

Customer Service

Provides customer service support and effectively responds to inquiries. Trains student employees through coaching and mentoring techniques and leads with the development of an effective customer focused employee training program.
Promotes teamwork in a cross functional environment. Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and predictable attendance, works overtime as required to meet workload demands, and participates in team meetings when necessary. Works weekends and other hours as assigned to support the open and close as necessary.

Vision demands include relatively detailed vision. Employee frequently interacts with customers and other employees of Auxiliary Services and the college. Employee climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls, and lifts up to 50 pounds.

Working Conditions

Typical retail environment. Regular exposure to moderate noise typical to a retail setting.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of: accounts receivable administration; generally accepted accounting principles; computers, software, including cloud applications, to include Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), accounting programs and software.

Skill in: verbal and written communications; project management; organization; data preparation and data analysis; software such as Excel, Word, etc.; proficiency in data presentation; customer service; conflict resolution; general typing.

Ability to: work independently; meet prescribed deadlines; develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, vendors, students, telephone users and general public; maintain confidential and sensitive information; use good judgement; research and analyze financial issues; maintain accurate and complete work records; effectively communicate information in oral, written, and graphic form; excellent listening skills and participant in collaborative work; develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the College; effectively work with persons of varying cultures and diversity; problem solve effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED.

One (1) years’ experience in a customer service position, with general computer skills using job-related word processing and spreadsheet software.

State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.
