Position Description

The School of Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (12-month) with the appointment starting in Fall 2023.

School of Nursing

The School of Nursing offers online and classroom-based courses for Registered Nurses. Minimal campus presence is required for selected classes, program administration, faculty governance and committee responsibilities. The degree programs are: RN-BSN and MSN with role options in Administration, Education, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult-Gerontology, Neo-Natal, or Pediatric Nursing. The School of is currently developing a Doctor of Nursing Practice program.

The Position

Applications are being accepted for a 12-month, tenure track position as an Assistant/Associate Professor in Nursing. The assigned academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The University seeks an outstanding, innovative, faculty member to serve as Coordinator for the Masters in Nursing Administration program for the School; one who is committed to promoting and fostering excellence in leadership, teaching, scholarship, and service. In particular, the School is seeking applicants that possess in-depth experience as a nursing/healthcare executive that have held the position of Chief Nurse Executive or Chief Hospital Executive (or equivalent), and has had experience in developing curricula for and teaching nursing administrative courses at the graduate level.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be qualified for a 12-month, full-time tenure track position as an Assistant Professor in Nursing, academic rank commensurate with qualifications and experience. The assignment of courses and administrative and teaching responsibilities will be commensurate with the applicant's clinical/administrative background and credentials. Assignments may be made for the RN-BSN program, the Masters program and/or in the Doctor of Nursing Practice program that is currently under development.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • National Certification in field of practice
  • Experience as a nurse or healthcare executive
  • Earned Doctorate in Nursing or in a related field. ABD candidates will be considered but must have completed the doctorate by the time of appointment.
  • Evidence of experience in undergraduate, graduate and/or doctoral nursing education
  • Valid and active unencumbered California Registered Nurse License
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching and working with colleagues from diverse age, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a senior leadership role in a major teaching facility
  • Classroom and online teaching experience
  • Evidence of scholarship/research activities and scholarly, peer reviewed publications

  • Employment Requirement - Background Check

    Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate's, Doctor's of Philosophy).
