Bellevue University offers quality liberal arts and career-oriented programs at undergraduate and graduate levels to a diverse student body through both in-class and online venues.  Our College of Business is currently looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable individual to fill an immediate opening for our Assistant Professor- Finance position

This is a residential position located in Bellevue, Nebraska and requires direct student contact both online and residentially.  The position is best filled by an engaged, enthusiastic, dynamic, and well-rounded individual interested in a fulltime faculty position.  

Primary Function
 
The primary function of this full-time faculty position is to design, develop, teach, assess, update, and maintain courses and degree programs in finance.  The finance curriculum supports College of Business and University programs at the bachelor of science, master, and doctorate levels, including our Master of Science in Strategic Finance, Bachelor of Science in Finance, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and MBA Programs.  The primary teaching areas for this position include Investments, International Finance, and Risk Management, though there are opportunities for teaching and/or developing curriculum in other finance areas. 

 

Essential Duties

  • Develop and maintain engaging undergraduate and graduate courses in the finance area that are skills and performance-based.
  • Teach courses in finance at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with primary teaching focus in Investments, International Finance, Risk Management, and Corporate Finance.
  • Teaching must reflect new development, knowledge, and technology specific to finance. Industry work experience and practical knowledge will facilitate this desired outcome.
  • Teach in various modes of delivery (day, evening, online) including engaging, new and innovative delivery approaches, at both graduate and undergraduate levels.
  • Revise and update existing graduate and undergraduate courses and curriculum in the finance discipline.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate adjunct faculty in select finance courses.
  • Actively participate in the development of assessment plans and programs for existing and new courses.
  • Actively participate in and support existing and ongoing assessment plans and programs.
  • Actively engage in research and learning (both of a practical and/or theoretical nature) for the purpose of energizing classroom experiences and also for maintaining and remaining academically & professionally qualified. 
  • Participate in the College of Business and University community with service on committees.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Ph. D. in Finance or a related business discipline with significant graduate course work in finance. Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to energize and actively engage students in the learning process. 
  • Ability to work with international students who come from diverse cultures and backgrounds, for whom English is a second language.
  • Teaching experience in an online learning environment is preferred.
  • This position requires the faculty member to office at the Bellevue University Campus in Bellevue, NE.  This is not a virtual faculty position.
