This is a NCAA Division III diversity grant funded position. We are committed to enhancing the diversity of underrepresented people in mid-to senior-level intercollegiate athletics administrative positions. As a key member of the athletics department, the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Success serves on the department's senior leadership team overseeing a select portfolio of sports and primarily responsible for enhancing the student-athlete experience related to their success and wellbeing. This individual will lead and provide oversight to programming and trainings in an array of areas that envelope student-athlete life and will serve as SAAC liaison and chair of Athletics' DEI Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and administer programs and opportunities that promote the development, leadership skills, and overall well-being of Babson student-athletes. Extends programming and training to coaches and staff.
  • Collaborate with campus resources on matters that impact the holistic student experience and its intersection with varsity athletic participation. These areas include but are not limited to Health and Wellness, Academic Affairs, Housing/Dining, and Career Development.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), providing administrative oversight to the group, leading dialogues, scheduling external speakers and practitioners, and assisting with the production of student-led initiatives and events.
  • Manage the Athletics Tutor Program, including the hiring, training, and assigning of tutors for student-athletes. Routinely check in with student-athletes and tutors to ensure appropriate support and resolve potential issues.
  • Serve as Chair to Athletics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee (DEI).
  • Administer student-athlete feedback forms (e.g., periodic surveys, annual exit interviews, etc.) and cultivates data trends and themes to assist in enacting departmental enhancements or changes. Collaborate with other members of Athletics and appropriate stakeholders across campus to ensure student-athlete needs are met and addressed in a timely fashion.
  • Assist in the planning and production of special events (e.g., Welcome Back Cookout, Senior Banquet, etc.), speaker series, and forums.
  • Identify, facilitate, and catalogue departmental and team-based community service activities. Work with members of the Athletics department to ensure teams are active in community service endeavors that support the department and College's goals, mission, and values.
  • Assist with scheduling conflicts between first year orientation and Athletics participation.
  • Serve as the Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee (ADID) and act as primary contact for information related to national and campus level matters, ensuring that Athletics' diversity, equity and inclusion strategies and initiatives are embedded throughout all levels of the department.
  • Serves on committees at the Athletics Director's requests.
  • Make significant contributions to the strategic planning of Babson Athletics by proposing, implementing, and assessing short and long-term goals of the department.
  • Manage and stay within assigned budgets.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Education Requirements:

Minimum Level of Education Required : Bachelor's Degree

Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities Requirements:

  • At least 6-8 years of related experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of advising students and leadership/personal development related training.
  • Strong communication skills: written, verbal and public speaking, effectively interfacing with students, coaches, faculty, staff and alumni.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize work, multi-task at a high level, anticipate/meet deadlines, coordinate work with others and remain accessible for inquiries.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point, etc.) is necessary and comfortable with various web-based platforms (e.g., ARMS, Workday, etc.).
  • Contributes to a culture of inclusion and belongingness for all Babson stakeholders, primarily students, with an emphasis on developing programs that reach a diverse community.
  • Creates an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deals with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciates open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics.

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work late evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel out-of-region to conferences and conventions.
  • Must have had a valid unrestricted U.S. Driver's License for one year, and maintain throughout employment an insurable (as determined by the College's insurer's criteria) or a satisfactory driving record; must successfully complete and pass the College's vehicle training program within the first 60 days of employment; annual or more frequent review of employee's driving record based on the College insurer's criteria; and safety training as required by management.
  • Babson College requires all Babson faculty and staff members authorized to work on our campuses or any other property owned or controlled by the College to verify that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. We have extended our vaccination policy to require a COVID-19 booster shot for all eligible community members as well. Students, faculty and staff must provide booster vaccination information by February 1 or within 21 days of becoming eligible for a booster (unless granted a medical accommodation or religious exemption). Requests for medical accommodation or religious exemption should be addressed directly to Human Resources.

Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:

• Master's Degree preferred.• Experience working in college athletics or former college student-athlete preferred.
