The Director provides leadership, direction, and strategic vision for the Graduate Center for Career Development to ensure high-quality programs and services for the Full Time, Part-Time MBA and MS students while creating an inclusive, innovative, and collaborative workplace. Specific responsibilities include developing and implementing a strategy for a comprehensive career development program spanning career advisement, including job search readiness to secure full time and internship opportunities, career education, employer relations and career outcomes for the Full Time and Part-Time MBA/MS populations; alumni career services delivery and innovative offerings in partnership with the alumni & development office; as well as working closely with key stakeholders such as graduate admissions, academic services, the undergraduate school career center, experiential learning, student life, executive education, marketing, and faculty to deepen the College's mission, while expanding Babson's entrepreneurial leadership culture and reputation for leveraging entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the planning, policymaking, marketing, implementation, and evaluation of all career center educational programs, Signature Employer events, and key services for graduate MBA & MS students.
  • Provides oversight for alumni career development proactive outreach for engagement and offering of job search support; creation of innovative alumni career offerings in partnership with the Alumni & Friends Office including webinars/speakers, programs, job search coaching, marketing new initiatives, outcomes metrics, and salesforce documentation.
  • Serves as the lead spokesperson for the center at multiple campus and student programs, various board presentations, admissions events, marketing point and external industry events.
  • Reinforces DE&I strategy as it supports employers' talent hiring needs and listens in order to best service student needs and creation of relevant events.
  • Leverages metrics, reporting analysis, surveys, and impactful benchmarking to guide strategic direction and ensure that student career outcomes/landing data meet or exceed institutional expectations and goals.
  • Maintains liaison relationships with key stakeholders including faculty, Alumni and Development Offices, Academic Services, Student Life, Experiential Learning, Graduate Admissions, Marketing and Undergraduate Center for Career Development in matters related to graduate and alumni student careers/outcomes and employer relations.
  • Provides guidance and oversight of the graduate career advisor/relationship manager team strategy, including employer outreach fundamentals and career education best practices.
  • Leads and manages the Graduate Employer Advisory Board including member recruitment, relationship management, and content/facilitation for bi-annual meetings. Leverage learnings with faculty and college leadership regarding employers' feedback on necessary student readiness skills for success and future of work.
  • Oversees development and maintenance of employer relationships with new and emerging companies to expand recruiting and provide staff awareness of job market trends and requirements. Interprets and communicates employer needs to Babson students, faculty, and administration.
  • Implements operational policies, processes, and office procedures leveraging Entrepreneurial Thought & Action culture; directs the department budget to assure financial resources are used effectively and align with department, division, and college objectives and priorities.
  • Oversees all career development technology resources and future resources ensuring relevance and state of the art offerings; including newly launched 12Twenty career portal; VMOCK (AI resume platform); SalesForce (CRM platform); and other appropriate innovative career platforms, career assessment tools, and evaluation surveys.
  • Oversees career center website and annual career outcomes materials in collaboration with Babson marketing.
  • Manages rankings and landing data analysis to determine strategic insights and strategies; oversees reporting results and shares interpretations with key management. Delivers landing outcomes presentations to students (CCD Up Close) to manage expectations and provide recommendations for success.
  • Understands and responds to the national and global economy relating directly to matters of career development and outcomes for students including nuances of international student population; spearheads efforts to refine, reform, and create programs and services that address the needs of Babson's student populations and rapidly changing world of work.
  • Mentors staff members and empowers team to grow professionally through strategic committee involvement and/or leadership initiatives within the department and throughout Babson. Meets to create annual goals and performance reviews.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as required.

Education Requirements:

Minimum Level of Education Required: Bachelor's Degree

Position Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:

  • At least 10+ years of successful, increasingly responsible leadership roles in career development or related environment; and 5 years of experience managing staff and a budget
  • Must have excellent project management skills
  • Must have strong oral, relational and written communication skills; executive presence, interpersonal and diplomacy skills; and the ability to deliver presentations to diverse audiences
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills and ability to lead, influence, and motivate
  • Must have program management expertise
  • Demonstrated commitment to working with a diverse and inclusive campus community including students, faculty, staff, and other constituents.
  • Must have a customer service orientation (students, employers, alumni, and internal constituencies); and the ability to develop collaborative relationships
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with frequent deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing projects and professionals in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a competitive market.
  • Must have strong technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point); Google suites, online communications platforms (Webex, Zoom, etc.) and high level savviness with online resources (12Twenty, SalesForce, is a plus).

Working Conditions:

  • Evening and occasional weekend work required; limited travel.
  • Team is working a hybrid work schedule; this position allows for flexibility with a hybrid schedule.
  • Babson College requires all Babson faculty and staff members authorized to work on our campuses or any other property owned or controlled by the College to verify that they have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19. We have extended our vaccination policy to require a COVID-19 booster shot for all eligible community members as well. Additional Experience, Skills & Abilities:

  • Master's Degree preferred
  • Prior corporate Human Resources or Talent Management experience is a plus and/or Career Management expertise in academia or other environments
