The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Vibrant Campus Community Coordinator.  This 12-month position reports to the Assistant Dean of Students and is a member of the Student Affairs division.  The selected candidate will have a crucial role supporting students’ cultural and social development outside of the classroom by supporting engagement and retention efforts through various aspects of Student Life. The selected individual should be an individual who is energetic, dedicated, progressive and student centered. 

 

Department-Specific Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide oversight and strategic direction to the 30+ UVA Wise Student Clubs/Organizations, including the registration and formation of potential new student clubs and organizations on campus. Support student leaders with all aspects of the event planning and approval process including reserving space, marketing, procurement of supplies, budgeting, and program evaluation and assessment. Provide day of event operations support as needed. Train all student leaders holding elected position(s) on topics such as club and organization policy and procedure, risk management, interpersonal skills, and conflict resolution.  Conduct additional training to club and organization advisors as necessary. Track and report student organization membership, involvement, and activities of campus life events associated with the Modern Campus/Presence Student Engagement Platform.   Continue developing marketing programs and initiatives promoting a vibrant student life on campus.  Support Student Affairs on division and college wide events and initiatives as directed including but not limited to The Annual Day of Service and Parent and Family Weekend among others.  Represent the Student Affairs Division on a variety of committees as assigned by The Assistant Dean of Students.

This is a full-time, salaried position.  Typical office hours are Monday – Friday 8 am – 5pm.  Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.  

Bachelor's degree Required; Master’s Degree Preferred.  Prior experience supervising and working with students in club and organization/event management. Experience; 1-3 years.
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
