Faculty Appointment: Lecturer in Jazz Saxophone

OVERVIEW
The Department of Music seeks candidates for a semester-long, potentially renewable lecturer position in Jazz Saxophone. The position is expected to be available for the fall and/or spring semesters of the 2022-2023 academic year.
Dependent on departmental need, responsibilities may include some or all of the following: teaching private lessons on campus to Princeton University students; coordination of lesson programs for the instructional focus; review and evaluation of admission tapes; review, evaluation and placement of students who audition for lessons; meeting prospective students; student advising; and writing letters of recommendation.
Other responsibilities may include programming for faculty concerts, presenting master classes, coaching student soloists and ensembles, adjudication of senior recitals and soloist competitions, and presentation of studio concerts at the end of the academic year. The successful candidate may have the opportunity to teach in a music course subject to departmental need and approval by the Dean of the Faculty. The lecturer performs their own administrative and clerical support functions.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in music or equivalent experience. They must also demonstrate knowledge of the jazz saxophone tradition, a deep understanding of improvisation, the ability to work across a diverse repertoire and multiple styles, and experience in both studio instruction and ensemble direction. Proficiency in composition and arranging in also welcome.
