Governors State University is seeking to hire a Gymnasium and Facilities Supervisor for the Athletics department.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

20% Supervise the use of the Athletic and Recreation facilities, and Athletic events including equipment for the swimming pool, gymnasium, fitness room, racquetball court, Outdoor athletic facilities, shower/locker rooms, equipment check-out services, Athletic concessions and sales office. (Daily Function)

20% Hire, train, and supervise the performance and scheduling of student workers, aquatic staff, and fitness instructors. (Daily Function)

10% Monitor cash handling functions, which include training and supervision of staff, night deposit drop procedures and cash accounting. (Daily Function)

10% Control the issuing and usage of supplies, and equipment used in the fitness, athletic, and recreational areas. Monitor equipment and facilities for repair or upgrade needs. Perform minor equipment maintenance and repair and arrange for major repair services.

10% Patrol the Athletic and Recreation Center for unauthorized usage and proper operations of all areas. Correct all unsafe conditions. Respond to emergency situations using established protocols. Enforce all policies and rules affecting staff and participants of the Athletics and Recreation Center. (Daily Function)

5% Promote the use by students and community participants of the Athletics and Recreation Center. Promote and inform students about the various programs, events, and organizations available through the Athletics and Recreation Departments. (Daily Function)

5% Create and maintain various forms for the department including time sheets, work orders, and membership forms. (Weekly Function)

5% Coordinate and control the issuing of Athletic and Recreation memberships. (Daily Function)

5% Share with the Program Director and other Facility Supervisors the development, maintenance and monitoring of the standard operating procedures and equipment for the Athletic and Recreation Center. (Weekly Function)

5% Develop, maintain and monitor systems for issuing locker room and student lockers. (Weekly Function)

5% Assist with the operations and planning of Athletic events. (Seasonal Function)

Salary: $36,855.00.
(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

• Experience with the proper use, maintenance and care of physical facilities and equipment.

• Working knowledge of athletic and fitness facilities and function of Athletic events.

• Working knowledge of a wide variety of recreational and competitive sports programs including by not limited to swimming, basketball, volleyball, and racquet sports.
