Job Summary

The Department of Communication and Creative Arts at Purdue University Northwest is hiring a tenure-track assistant professor to teach courses in digital media.

This is a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor appointment with a nine-month service period each year and anticipated start date of August 2023. The criteria for merit evaluation and promotion in this position will be based on learning, discovery and engagement. The position offers a competitive salary, university benefits, opportunities for promotion, and protection of academic freedom.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in digital media, interactivity and creative storytelling, media and visual theory, and basic media design principles with an emphasis on information and communication design. Secondary expertise or experience in social media, analytics or media writing preferred.

The successful candidate will create and/or re-design classes related to our degree options to match industry needs. The successful candidate will also pursue a program of peer-reviewed scholarship or industry-related creative work.

The successful candidate will possess an earned Ph.D. in communication or related field from an accredited college or university at the time of appointment. ABDs will be considered.

Faculty members in the Department of Communication and Creative Arts are expected to participate in departmental, university, disciplinary and public service. All faculty serve on a variety of assigned and voluntary committees.

The college is also home to the Willie T. Donald Exoneration Advisory Coalition to support those who have been wrongfully convicted in the state of Indiana.
