Job Summary

The Department of Communication and Creative Arts at Purdue University Northwest is hiring a tenure-track assistant professor to teach courses in communication.

This is a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor appointment with a nine-month service period each year and anticipated start date of August 2023. The criteria for merit evaluation and promotion in this position will be based on learning, discovery and engagement. The position offers a competitive salary, university benefits, opportunities for promotion, and protection of academic freedom.

Teaching responsibilities include courses in public speaking, introduction to human communication, persuasion, interviewing, public relations, communication research and communication theory.

The successful candidate will help develop curriculum/courses/programs that serve a diverse student population. The successful candidate will pursue a peer-reviewed research program appropriate to the discipline and secure grant funding.

The successful candidate will have an earned Ph.D. or equivalent in communication or related field from an accredited college or university at the time of appointment. ABD will be considered.

Faculty members in the Department of Communication and Creative Arts are expected to participate in departmental, university, disciplinary and public service. All faculty serve on a variety of assigned and voluntary committees.

The college is also home to the Willie T. Donald Exoneration Advisory Coalition to support those who have been wrongfully convicted in the state of Indiana.
