Vice President of Human Resources

(Reposting)

The University of Maine System (UMS) is seeking applications for a Vice President of Human Resources (VPHR). UMS is looking for an experienced and dynamic individual with a proven track record of success in senior leadership roles within the human resources field. This position is responsible for HR support for the University of Maine (recently designated as an R1 university by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education; the highest tier a doctoral research university can achieve) and its regional campus, the University of Maine at Machias (UMM). This role reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and has a dotted line and strong working relationship with the President of University of Maine and UMM. The VPHR has responsibility for planning, developing, and implementing initiatives and strategies that support both campus and system-wide goals. The VPHR will provide comprehensive support to leadership, faculty, and staff and work collaboratively with other senior leaders and appropriate stakeholders across all areas of human resources management. The VPHR will work to prioritize the University’s strategic goals while also focusing on key areas such as diversity, equity, and inclusion, employee retention, and talent management.

The work location is at the University of Maine in Orono.

Based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant, the annual salary range is commensurate with experience plus a 10% employer contribution to the UMS retirement plan. Additional benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. The UMS is a recipient of the Wellness Councils of America’s Well Workplace Award and offers a wellness program.

Review of applications begins immediately. For full consideration materials must be submitted by August 12, 2022.
