Assistant Professor of Psychology Department of Psychological Science




Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor of Psychology faculty position in the Department of Psychological Science to begin August 2023.




The area of specialization is open, and high priority will be given to those who can teach courses in research methods and statistics and who engage in applied psychology research. The successful applicant will have documented evidence of teaching excellence and a productive applied research program. Strong scholarship, along with a commitment to excellence in teaching and engagement, is expected of all faculty members in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences at KSU.




The Department of Psychological Science at Kennesaw State University is seeking applicants with a demonstrated record of impactful, applied research, teaching excellence, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Research-intensive, nine-month tenure track faculty within the Department of Psychological Science are expected to engage in programmatic research that results in publications in refereed journals and extramural funding.




Faculty are expected to teach undergraduate courses in their area of specialization, as well as courses that are part of the required core in the psychology major. The standard teaching load is 9 credit hours (i.e., 3 courses) per semester, and faculty on a research-intensive workload have a reduced course load. Faculty in the department have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, mentorship, and creating inclusive learning environments for students with diverse backgrounds. Service to the department, college, university, and/or profession is expected.




Required Qualifications Include


  • A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Psychology with at least 18 graduate hours in psychology is required by August 1, 2023. Demonstrated record of research and scholarship within the discipline. A record of effective university teaching.



Preferred Qualifications Include


  • Demonstrated strong potential for garnering extramural funding for research. Experience teaching a culturally and an ethnically diverse community. Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students. Experience teaching in different modalities (i.e.,face-to-face, online, hybrid).
