ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Associate Director of Alumni and Parent Engagement plays an important role in supporting the goal of fostering life-long connections that engage alumni, students and their families with Lewis & Clark College. This role will: provide a wide range of programs, outreach and services for the Pioneer family; connect students with a supportive network of alumni and other constituents emphasizing their future career success; build a culture of philanthropy encouraging contribution of time, talent, and financial resources; advance the college’s reputation and promote pride, tradition, and loyalty.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Event management: Plan, organize, implement, advertise, and host events to engage alumni and families that foster a sense of pride and life-long support of the L&C community. These include but are not limited to Alumni Weekend, Homecoming,, Alumni Honors Celebration, Parents Council events, Board of Alumni events, career networking events, affinity group events (overseas reunions, alumni of color events, LGBTQ+ events, Albany Society events, fraternity/sorority reunion events, young alumni events, etc.).
  • Coordinate volunteers in support of L&C’s commitment to excellence: this will include but is not limited to staffing a committee of the Board of Alumni and/or Parents Council, working with a couple class reunion committees, managing various affinity reunion committees and reunions, and communicating with volunteers such as Class Correspondents and Alumni Pioneer Corps career volunteers.
  • Student, parent and alumni engagement: provide opportunities for students to engage with alumni and parents as they explore the possibilities of their Lewis & Clark journey and beyond. This includes but is not limited to creating opportunities for students and alumni to meet about careers, making connections between alumni and students around affinity groups, supporting the Senior Experience Committee, and a range of projects with the Student Life Division and others across campus.
  • Create and distribute printed and electronic communication to a wide variety of constituents: this includes but is not limited to daily email communication with constituents, production of newsletters and other publication such as LC Insider Parents and Alumni edition, regular promotion of alumni and parents events to promote interest and registration, working with the Office of Communication to design print marketing materials, using Facebook and other emerging media, as well as large and small group presentations.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to enhance and cultivate the alumni and parent experience: including developing affinity projects between academic and co-curricular groups, promoting philanthropy supporting the development team, working closely with the athletic department, International Students & Scholars office, Law School, and Graduate School.
  • Collect, disseminate and analyze alumni and parent information and data: this includes regular evaluation of events and projects, use of the Slate database to plan events, applying budgeting skills, and use of data to impact communications.
  • Ability to honor and work with all identities and individuals, particularly those who are underrepresented in the country and/or at Lewis & Clark College.
  • Support and actively contribute to the goal of achieving greater diversity, inclusion and equity at Lewis & Clark College.
  • Promote a team atmosphere where creativity, fun, excitement and a high level of motivation and accomplishment are valued.
  • Serve on committees, attend staff meetings, division meetings etc.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree (liberal arts)
  • 3 years of directly related work experience
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Event planning
  • Volunteer management
  • Use of emerging media
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Effective communication with diverse constituents
  • Database queries and reports
  • Flexible schedule to permit evening and weekend hours, including out-of-town travel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree
  • 5 years of directly related work experience
  • Familiarity with Slate database
PAY RATE:
  • $55,000 - $60,000 annually
  • Commensurate with experience
WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Full time
  • 37.5 hours per week

Eligibility to Work

In order to comply with US Homeland Security Department regulations, all employees must complete an I-9 form in Workday prior to or no later than the first day of work and bring originals (no photocopies) of their supporting documentation to Human Resources no later than the 3rd business day of employment. Failure to have a completed I-9 form on file with the College will result in immediate termination of employment.
