  • Significant experience in higher education in a leadership capacity working with student advising/programming.

N/A Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Coordinator of Transfer Pathway Programs will coordinate pathway programs and resources to assist community college transfer students and dual enrolled/Early & Middle College high school students, community college advisors, and counselors, and provide pre-enrollment advising and admissions counseling and guidance to prospective and admitted students.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Aspire Appalachian: Liaise with community college leadership and Aspire liaisons at partner community colleges; train new community college liaisons to use the Aspire portal; outreach to liaisons and respective App State Transfer Admission Counselor on timely review of Aspire applicants, ensuring graduates of community colleges are moved out of the system/apply to Appalachian, enlarge Aspire programming, and updates/review of MOU's; and oversee the development/update of Aspire marketing including rack cards, website, videos, posters, and social media. Assess program and update as needed.
  • Bridge to Appalachian: Collaborate with First-Year Admissions to identify eligible students; Market and communicate to eligible Bridge students and their parents on program benefits; advise (group and individual) participants on community college classes, provide success support, and admission counseling; chair a campus committee that plans and implements a summer bridge program; provide transitional support and programming to students both at the community college and once they arrive at App State; assess program and update as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to create, update, and market articulation agreements. Liaise with community college and App State academic departments to connect parties and develop new agreements.
  • Work closely with CAA initiatives and articulation agreements in collaboration with the Senior Director of Transfer Admissions & Engagement.
  • Work closely with departmental Chairs and advisors to ensure Transfer Guides, particularly the Baccalaureate Degree Plans, are accurate for all majors, with community college CAA -approved courses. Ensure these are updated yearly and posted on the TAE website.
  • Advise prospective and admitted high school students that walk in or contact TAE for pre-transfer college course advising (Early/Middle college or dual enrollment). Host virtual 1-on-1 advising sessions.
  • Establish a communication plan (advising manual, webinars, newsletters) for community college transfer advising centers that provides pertinent and timely information for prospective and admitted students.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of a yearly Community College Advising Symposium to update community college advisors/counselors on academic program updates and highlights.
  • Present recruitment and transitional information at admission presentations/tours, ACA classes, Open House, and other venues.
  • Provide early college students with transitional information through early college-specific break-out sessions at Transfer Orientation.
  • Maintain up-to-date advising information, instructional videos, social media links, etc. for TAE and Transfer Guide websites.
  • Provide backup support to Transfer Admission Counselors as needed.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
