Description:
The Division of Research and Innovation at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is seeking a Grant Administrator I. Under general supervision, the grant administrator will provide support for post-award sponsored project administration of a diverse group of faculty from the Colleges of Education and Human Development, Liberal Arts, and Nursing and Health Sciences. The grant administrator will work closely with the Office of Sponsored Research Administration and the business office staff in these Colleges.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain records including databases and electronic files to facilitate the administration of sponsored projects and to expedite recurring tasks.
  • Ensure proper records management of sponsored project documentation, including adherence to University, Federal and contractual record retention requirements.
  • Upon award notification, ensure that extramural accounts are established in a timely manner.
  • Facilitate or process the appointment of personnel to accounts in accordance with the project budgets. Assist in the review and approval of semi-annual time and effort documents.
  • Audit expenditures for allowability, allocability and reasonableness and reconciles to extramural accounts.
  • Provide Principal Investigators with regular reports.
  • Aid in ensuring that project deliverables are submitted in accordance with sponsor agreements.
  • Prepare salary projection spreadsheets for sponsored project personnel, and update costing allocations in a timely manner.
  • Communicate regularly with Principal Investigators and Co-Principal Investigators with an aim to plan and initiate transactions based on the scope of work in a timely manner. This includes processing stipend payments, facilitating travel requests and purchasing processes.
  • Review and approve vendor invoices as needed.
  • Prepare Journal Entries, Departmental Cost Requests and Departmental Budget Requests as needed. Assist with fiscal year end closing functions.
  • Perform thorough planning and analysis, maintain a positive balance in accounts, advise Principal Investigators on the need for moderating or expediting expenditures or the need for revised budget or no-cost time extension requests.
  • Assist Principal Investigators and the Office of Sponsored Research Administration's in monitoring of subaward agreements to ensure timely expenditure of funds and deliverable completion pursuant to subaward documents.
  • Monitor Key Personnel level of effort to ensure compliance with OMB 2 CFR 200.
  • Seek out and participate in continuing education opportunities in the field of research administration.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of related experience.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access) and the Internet.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to be able to maintain cordial relations with different departments within an organization.
  • Good interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to be well organized and have a detail-oriented approach to work.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems, techniques, and procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Research administration experience.
  • Direct experience with Federal and State of Texas policies and procedures governing contracting, procurement and travel.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Access, Data Warehouse/Business Objects and FAMIS accounting system.


Salary:
  • $40,712 - $51,000/annual
