Position Overview & Responsibilities

The Master of Arts in Communication (Department of Communication and Media) invites applications to teach one section of a Fundamentals of Social Media course for the fall 2022 semester.

The adjunct instructor should be available to teach one course meeting Thursday evenings from 6-9:30 p.m. This course meets on-ground at Merrimack College. The fall 2022 semester starts on August 29th and runs through December 17th (which includes the mandatory final exam period).

Fundamentals of Social Media Overview: This course explores emerging topics in the field of social media. As social media evolves, it is crucial to revisit the fundamental features of this dynamic landscape. To interrogate how social media facilitates and constraints meaningful exchange, this course addresses the psychology of social media practices and the structures that shape how information flows. Students will be introduced to tools and techniques used by social media professionals and grass-root organizers.

Due to the rapidly advancing landscape of social media, topics for this course will vary based on instructor specialization and background.

This 4-credit course primarily serves the Master of Arts in Communication program.

  • Ph.D. in Communication or a related discipline preferred; applicants with an MA and at least 2 years of college teaching experience considered.
