The AVP of Marketing & Communications leads development of the university’s strategic marketing and communications plans and oversees the execution of strategies in support of the university’s mission to support student success, fundraising and regional stewardship.

They provide strategic counsel, direction and advice to university leaders to ensure goals and objectives are met and results are measured in alignment with the institution’s strategic framework, Success by Design. In collaboration with the director of Marketing, Senior director of Strategic Communications and director of Web and Digital Strategy, the AVP will establish the university’s overall marketing and communication goals and define key performance indicators that measure success.

They will lead a team of creative professionals to deliver a consistent brand experience to audiences across owned, earned and paid channels, and develop strategies, engagement plans and tactics that drive identified constituent actions and raise the awareness, visibility and profile of the University. Primary Responsibilities
  • Working with the Vice President University Advancement and the President of the university on all communications and messaging to deliver a consistent brand experience and being able to help leadership articulate public higher education’s value proposition.
  • Develop and execute an integrated University marketing strategy that aligns with the University’s mission, vision, and strategic framework and raises the overall visibility and profile of the University. Utilize an appropriate mix of paid advertising (including print, radio, out-of-home, television and digital), digital communication, direct mail, social media, public relations, sponsorships and/or special events to increase awareness and build the brand of the University.
  • Develop and implement marketing and communications strategy for Success by Design, NKU’s strategic framework.
  • Serve as a key liaison with university constituents. Be the owner and champion of the brand. Provide guidance, help and support to the university at large.
  • Partner with the university’s external licensing partner to continue growth of NKU’s licensing program to generate and grow revenue stream and build brand awareness.
  • Direct market research efforts to evaluate performance and measure ROI on traditional/digital marketing and advertising efforts and communicate with stakeholders to ensure continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field.

Preference for Master’s Degree and knowledge or skills in learning and communicating complicated subject matters, from Higher Ed and regulatory issues to business and financial operations.

Minimum of ten years work experience and 5 years related management experience required.
