Major/Essential Functions

The Julia Jones Matthews School of Population and Public Health’s Department of Public Health and the Garrison Institute on Aging at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center are seeking exceptional candidates for an Associate Professor at the Lubbock campus. We are seeking an epidemiologist who will have an appointment with the School of Population and Public Health and will also collaborate with the Garrison Institute for Aging.

The successful candidate will assist in the development of additional MPH concentrations and doctoral programs in the Department of Public Health; teach at least one class per year; advance their own externally-funded research program; and collaborate across disciplines with academic colleagues in the TTUHSC and our sister institutions, as well as with community partners and stakeholders.

The Garrison Institute is involved both in community outreach and research. An ongoing study of people over 40 year of age in 4 rural counties has collected an abundance of data that is used by students and faculty to answer questions about healthy aging and to drive ideas for research projects. The successful candidate will be responsible managing this study. They will additionally be responsible for developing and serving as PI on new research projects.
