Position Summary
Law Enforcement Trainer
Law Enforcement Academy
Full Time
Primary Responsibilities
- Greet visitors and answer telephone calls
- Typing, filing and maintaining records
- Compose and produce letters, memos and reports
- Disseminate law enforcement academy enrollment information
- Process and maintain Academy personnel documents
- Purchase equipment and supplies
- Coordinate correspondence with students and a variety of area law enforcement agencies
- Complete documents in compliance with federal and state regulatory agency standards
- Assist in the preparation of training schedules for basic and advanced classes
- Assist Law Enforcement Academy Director in managing the Academy budget
- Oversee continuing law enforcement Education
- Instruct basic law enforcement training classes
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED AND ten years full-time experience as a certified peace officer with the powers of arrest OR Associates degree from an accredited college or university AND eight years full-time experience as a certified peace officer with the powers of arrest OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND five years full-time experience as a certified peace officer with the powers of arrest
- Experience as a full-time law enforcement officer
- Demonstrated complete administrative skills
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work as a team player
- Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
