Position Summary
Law Enforcement Trainer
Law Enforcement Academy
Full Time

Primary Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors and answer telephone calls
  • Typing, filing and maintaining records
  • Compose and produce letters, memos and reports
  • Disseminate law enforcement academy enrollment information
  • Process and maintain Academy personnel documents
  • Purchase equipment and supplies
  • Coordinate correspondence with students and a variety of area law enforcement agencies
  • Complete documents in compliance with federal and state regulatory agency standards
  • Assist in the preparation of training schedules for basic and advanced classes
  • Assist Law Enforcement Academy Director in managing the Academy budget
  • Oversee continuing law enforcement Education
  • Instruct basic law enforcement training classes


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED AND ten years full-time experience as a certified peace officer with the powers of arrest OR Associates degree from an accredited college or university AND eight years full-time experience as a certified peace officer with the powers of arrest OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND five years full-time experience as a certified peace officer with the powers of arrest
  • Experience as a full-time law enforcement officer
  • Demonstrated complete administrative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as a team player
  • Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
  • Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
