The Assistant Director / Creative Communications serves as a key member of the external operations team to help develop and execute creative content strategies to further promote Virginia Tech Athletics and its brand. This position will report directly to the Associate AD / Creative Communications. Responsibilities for the Assistant Director / Creative Communications will include serving as the primary contact for assigned sports and managing their respective social media accounts. As the primary contact, creative content (i.e., graphics, motion graphics, videos, photos),in addition to written content (i.e., press releases, feature stories), will be used to uniquely promote Virginia Tech student-athletes and coaches for assigned sports, while engaging recruits, fans and donors. This position will work primarily with men's soccer and women's lacrosse, and will serve as the secondary contact for men's basketball.

Required Qualifications

Master's degree and/or bachelor's degree with related experience in athletics communications, digital media and/or graphic design at the Division I collegiate level, professional sports or similar setting.
Experience with soccer, lacrosse, and basketball.
Cutting-edge knowledge of social media, graphic design, video, digital media and written media in athletics.
Demonstrated leadership ability and strong work ethic.
High degree of integrity and commitment to men's and women's athletics and to the values of diversity.
Computer skills using Mac and PC platforms, in addition to Stat Crew and/or Genius experience with lacrosse and soccer are desired.
Proficient in using a variety of programs within the Adobe Creative Suite (i.e., Photoshop, After Effects, Lightroom, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign).
Knowledge of social media best practices and emerging platforms.
Must be able to meet deadlines and coordinate multiple tasks.
Excellent communication skills and organizational abilities.
Overnight travel, evening and weekend hours required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a Division I collegiate athletics setting with postseason experience desired.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations as it relates to their job responsibilities.
Experience in generating creative content (i.e., graphics, motion graphics, videos,
photos) and implementing a content strategy to assist recruiting efforts by coaching staffs at the
Division I level.
