Position Summary:  

 

The Director of Faculty Consulting Group provides mission-driven, service-oriented, dynamic, entrepreneurial, and data-informed leadership and strategy for a team that supports course products across Kenan-Flagler. The Director role reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Programs, helping develop strategies for course experiences, representing efforts with faculty and program leaders, and serving on committees that support work and programs across the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The Director of the Faculty Consulting group leads the efforts for course development (asynchronous content, live session planning, tool use) School-wide. This position directly manages a growing team (currently 9 members and several contractors). The Director will also effectively thread student-centered teaching and learning approaches across Kenan-Flagler in partnership with faculty, and work collaboratively with MBA, MAC, UBP (Undergraduate Business Program), and Executive Education.

A strong candidate will be able to demonstrate effective strategic planning, project management, communication budget management, talent management and growth.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent educational or instructional activities related to consulting or developing course content, curriculum, instructional technique/technology, distance education design, development or implementation, will accept a relevant Bachelor’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: 

Five or more years of experience with instructional design and/or higher education administration with a degree granting program, with preference toward business education, is required. Strong proficiency in technology tools and data management processes. Strong organization and coordination skills. Efficient in an independent or team-based environment. Enjoy working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment. The successful candidate must demonstrate leadership skills and strong project management skills while relating well to best in class educators. In addition, candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of business course content and possess the ability to evaluate the quality of courses and course delivery.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience: 

Preferred candidates will have specific knowledge or experience working in or in partnership with at least some of the following areas: asynchronous course creation, instructional technologies, hybrid/virtual events, video production, and adult and non-traditional credit and non-credit programs. Preference for at least five years in a management role.
