Position Summary:

We are a diverse community of students, staff and faculty at a Catholic, Marianist research University in search of the right candidate to provide outstanding service to our students.

The Assistant Director of Admissions and Financial Aid’s main responsibility is handling most aspects of students’ financial aid and scholarship awarding across all law programs within the School of Law, from acceptance through graduation. Together with the Assistant Dean, this position will plan and execute long-term admissions and financial aid strategies. In addition, this person will manage scholarship awarding, as well as provide guidance to both prospective and current students on the financial aid process (includes being a liaison to UD Office of Admission and Financial Aid and Flyer Student Services Office.) This person is also responsible for financial aid related correspondence (emails, phone calls, walk-ins) and in-person and virtual presentations for students and families related to the financial aid process, scholarships and loans.

In tandem with the university’s main financial aid office, the position involves creating budgets across programs, computing individual awarding, determining scholarship amounts, retention criteria, and federal loan eligibility while meeting federal compliance. The ideal candidate will have both strong attention to detail, and the ability to speak comfortably in forward-facing interactions with prospective students/families and current students. The ability to prioritize workload and complete time-sensitive projects under minimal supervision is key.

The job involves working across many departments within the School of Law and across campus, including program directors, the Office of Student Accounts, and Flyer Student Services. The ideal candidate will be able to pivot across the various law programs, including residential and hybrid JD, MSL, and the online LLM program.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required with minimum of three years’ experience working in financial aid office.
• Must be self-motivated, and have the ability to work independently.
• Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must have excellent public speaking skills.
• Advising/relationship-management experience in higher education environment.
• Proficient using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Valid driver’s license with low risk driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Master’s degree preferred.
• A minimum of three years’ experience reviewing applications for scholarships.
• Experience working in Ellucian Banner.
• Experience working in UNITE/ACES.
• Experience compiling and analyzing financial aid data, and making recommendations to leadership
• Knowledge and sensitivity to Catholic and Marianist principles of education and values.
• Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
