Multimedia Video Producer

About the Opportunity

Summary:

Northeastern University's Experiential Digital Global Education Division (EDGE) is seeking a Multimedia Video Producer to create innovative educational media content in support of teaching and learning goals of our digital learning products. The ideal candidate should possess strong video production, video editing, as well as storyboarding, storytelling, and organizational skills to collaborate in the ideation phase, give support during recordings, to completion of final deliverables. This position requires a high level of cross-functional collaboration, teamwork, and excellent communication.

The Multimedia Video Producer will work closely with learning experience designers, graphic designers and animators, and faculty to conceptualize, design and develop engaging educational content including videos, simulations, screencast tutorials, and podcasts. The person in this role will build for scalability, by anticipating the reuse of videos and media assets. In addition to having strong video production skills, the person in this role will need to apply project management skills to manage medium to large scale content development projects.

The Multimedia Video Producer will be a team player and will assist faculty and staff whose experience on camera will vary greatly, and support new team members.

The ideal candidate must be excited to discover new techniques and formats in video production while also staying up to date on the latest studio camera and filming techniques and tactics.

Ideal candidates should be creative problem solvers and be willing to work in a fast paced environment.

Key Responsibilities::

Media Vision and Scoping - 20%

Work closely with the Studio team and Learning Design team to identify the product's media development vision and strategy, scope within timeline, and expectations of quality after identifying the media scope. Collaborate with team members and faculty to suggest and identify media asset types, features, and development strategies that achieve product quality, time and budget expectations.

Media Development - 60%

Identify, develop, and produce compelling educational media assets that support teaching and learning. Build media assets and components to be reused, scaled, and optimized across different learning management systems and distribution channels. Assist in studio set up and break down, coaching faculty, staff, and students.

Team Collaboration - 20%

Contribute to positive team culture and collaborate effectively with design teams and when relevant, external vendors, to produce large scale digital media projects. Take feedback from team members and clients and find the best ways to address concerns and provide new solutions. Act as a team player and pitch in wherever help is needed across learning products, including supporting management of media production, communication across teams, and mentoring others as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally in video production or a creative liberal arts degree.
  • 3-5 years experience in video production and storytelling is strongly preferred.
  • Strong technical acumen and creative production skills. Experience producing and directing in studio.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coach on-camera talent who are approaching this work for the first time.
  • Ability to Incorporate creative and high production quality while maintaining efficiency in all aspects.
  • Advanced-level knowledge and experience in Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder, and Audition. Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator or other design applications is a plus.
  • Ability to generate, storyboard, and present clear ideas that meet project objectives and comply with brand and product guidelines, upholding Northeastern University's values of inclusive excellence.
  • Adeptness in recording and editing with multiple audio-visual equipment formats.
  • Skilled in color correction, audio effects and other advanced editing skills.
  • Ability to provide perspective on solutions for the high-quality capture of media during productions as well as identifying new methods for creating educational media components.
  • Ability to support story development with visuals as well as writing and adapting scripts
  • Demonstrated skills in leadership, networking and organizational skills, and knows when to use other members of the team to produce the best results.
  • Ability to interact with faculty and staff in a sensitive manner, maintaining positive relationships and building consensus.
  • Strong project management, workflow, and process skills; experience managing complex live projects from pre-production design to post-production deliverables.
  • Has a director's eye and can contribute to studio look, feel and design.
  • Production project management experience: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to take feedback from team members and clients and find the best ways to address concerns and provide new solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Must be committed to creating a professional collaborative work environment by demonstrating a respect for colleagues and their expertise; cultivating open communication & feedback; and inspiring a unified commitment to elevating the standard of quality of the deliverables.
