Senior Director Alternative Pathways
About the Opportunity
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Senior Director of Alternative Pathways will oversee and provide strategic leadership for a multitude of teams that touch pre-matriculated, first-year programming, including Global ConnEXions, International Pathway Programs (NU in), and Global Network Pathways (NU Bound). The Senior Director will provide executive level coaching, training, and development for the leaders within each team. The Senior Director will work with the leadership within each team to ensure that programs meet strategic objectives, achieve academic and learning goals, meet student demand, are financially sound, and provide an excellent and safe experience for students.
The Senior Director will also work laterally with external stakeholders to collaborate on opportunities to develop, strengthen, and grow the International Programs & Network Pathways teams.
The Senior Director will have a strong focus on first-year experience programming, responsible for ensuring a smooth and positive student experience for all first-year students who interact with any of the International Programs and Network Pathways. In addition, they will be responsible for engaging and managing parent and family communications, including regular and crisis-communications.
The Senior Director will report to the Vice Chancellor of Global Experiential Pathways and will have three direct reports: The Associate Director of Global ConnEXions, the Director of International Pathway Programs, and the Director of Global Network Pathways.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required. 8+ years of academic administrative experience with 4+ years of leadership and staff supervision required. Extensive experience with designing and/or managing first-year programming required. Awareness and familiarity with strategic prioritization required. Strong negotiating and influencing skills required. Strong oral and written communication to positively engage people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. Strong time management and prioritization skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities at once in a fast-paced environment. Excellent problem-solving and strong analytical skills with proven ability to strategize, prioritize, and multi-task to meet goals and deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills, sufficient to inspire others and work effectively and collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders. This includes professionalism and collegiality in a team environment, excellent judgment, discretion, and the ability to make decisions in a timely manner. The ability to interact with program representatives, faculty, and students in a highly professional manner with an understanding of protocol and confidentiality. Must effectively represent the University to outside institutions and universities. Strong organizational, project management, administrative, and computer skills. Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office software required. Familiarity with Salesforce, Terra Dotta, and student record systems (e.g., Banner) preferred. Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
