Postdoctoral Teaching Associate

Responsibilities:
The Writing Program at Northeastern University, housed in the College of Social Science and Humanities and the English Department, is accepting applications from candidates holding a PhD to teach first-year and advanced writing, in both face-to-face and online modalities. This position is based in Boston. This is a benefits-eligible, nine-month 2022-23 academic-year appointment that carries with it a 3/3 teaching assignment and expectation of service and professional development. The appointment may be renewable. Candidates must have completed their PhD prior to the appointment start date. Candidates may be eligible for hire as part-time lecturers for summer 2023 courses on a per-course basis.
Postdoctoral Teaching Associates will join a Writing Program that is staffed by a mix of full-time Teaching Professors, PhD students, part-time lecturers, and tenure-stream faculty and was named a Conference on College Composition and Communication Writing Program of Excellence in 2015. Writing Program classes consist of First-Year Writing, including sections for multilingual writers, and discipline-specific advanced writing courses, including sections for business, health care, social sciences, and STEM. Teaching Associates will participate in faculty development opportunities, including program-wide workshops, peer-to-peer observations, teaching networks, topic-specific training, and mentoring. Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Rhetoric and Composition or related field. Applicants
from STEM and social science fields who have experience teaching
disciplinary communication will also be considered.
- Evidence of commitment to writing across the curriculum/writing
in the disciplines (WAC/WID) scholarship and pedagogies.
