ABOUT THE POSITION
The Chancellor and Board of Trustees of State Center Community College District (SCCCD) are seeking a president for Clovis Community College (CCC). The president will provide unifying and participatory leadership to a dynamic, complex, and diverse college. The president will build upon the college's strong legacy of achievement and leadership in the community.The president will be a student-focused, dynamic, kind and collaborative leader who is committed to advancing student access, equity, and success for our diverse student body and will lead the college in the development and implementation of new programs that address the unique workforce needs of the community. The president will expand existing relationships with community businesses, organizations and build upon strong partnerships with educational institutions to advance the economic and social mobility of our students.The president will collaborate with their dedicated team of professionals to ensure that the college maintains its strong integration of student equity and success, while working towards achieving Clovis Community College's mission and strategic goals. The President is responsible and accountable for all college operations, fiscal stewardship, strategic enrollment management and for providing steadfast leadership to the college's faculty, classified professionals and administrators.Clovis Community College is known for its innovative spirit, positive climate, high transfer rates, and dedication to closing equity gaps. The faculty, staff, and leadership are creative, caring, collegial, and collaborative and focused on student success. The Chancellor and Board of Trustees are seeking a leader who will facilitate and nurture this climate, as the campus grows and evolves.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder administrative direction of the Chancellor and in accordance with provisions of the California Education Code, the rules and regulations of the Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges, and the policies and administrative regulations of the District, the president of Clovis Community College performs the following duties:
  • Serves as the chief executive officer of the college;
  • Leads the development of the college's strategic plan and evaluation of the achievement of the college's goals and objectives;
  • Advocates for the college using a collaborative, collegial leadership style that also supports the district's strategic plan and achievement of the district-wide goals and objectives;
  • Promotes a culture of trust and respect across all employee groups and facilities a caring community within the college;
  • Develops and utilizes procedures to effectively allocate the resources of the college to optimize the achievement of the college goals and objectives;
  • Establishes and implements procedures that enhance the college's administrative and governance processes and college-wide communications;
  • Leads the evaluation of the college's programs and services and ensures the use of research and evaluation data in institutional planning;
  • In collaboration and with assistance of the college's faculty and staff, leads the development of educational specifications for facilities and subsequent staffing required to support the college's programs, and leads the improvement in college programs and services;
  • Ensures adherence to the institutional accreditation policies, standards and eligibility requirements;
  • Leads the development of the college's budget and ensures management of the college's financial affairs in conformity with district fiscal policies and procedures;
  • Assures the assessment of college processes for organizational effectiveness;
  • Encourages and supports the development of college public relations, service to the community, and student outreach;
  • Promotes articulation among the college and other P-12 schools, colleges, and universities locally and nationally;
  • Approves all job assignments, duties and responsibilities of academic and classified personnel;
  • Chairs the President's Council, participates as a member of the Chancellor's cabinet, and participates in meetings of the Board of Trustees;
  • Keeps the Chancellor informed of the college's programs and services, as well as the needs and accomplishments of the college;
  • Represents the college at meetings of appropriate educational agencies and organizations;
  • Ensures the college's compliance with federal, state and district policies on equal employment opportunities, and shall endeavor to protect students, employees, and members of the community from all discrimination, including sexual harassment; and,
  • Ensures that all employees work within the duties and responsibilities described in job descriptions, and ensures all employees follow all policies, rules, regulations, bargaining agreements, and procedures of the state and the District, including the requirement that access to privileged information be carefully protected.


Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices;

AND• Earned master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution;

AND• Five (5) years of successful senior-level administrative experience in progressively responsible, reasonably related executive positions.

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited higher education institution;
  • Teaching and/or student services experience in higher education;
  • At least five years of successful, progressively responsible management experience in a community college or a post-secondary institution;

Conditions of Employment:
223 duty days and 22 vacation days for a total of 245 days.

Salary and Benefits:
State Center Community College District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, sick leave, vacation benefits and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS) or Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS). Salary and other benefits are competitive. Starting annual salary is $217,128 - $235,026, dependent upon experience and qualifications. The successful candidate should be available for service no later than January 3, 2023.

Selection Process
Applications will initially be screened to determine which applicants meet the minimum qualifications as stated in the job announcement.

From the applicants who meet the minimum qualifications and who have submitted all the required documents, a search advisory committee will screen the application packets and determine the candidates who are best qualified based on the minimum qualifications and desirable qualifications. Those candidates will be invited to interview. Interviews are tentatively scheduled for the week of September 17.

The search advisory committee typically includes faculty, staff, administrators, students and community members.

Finalists will be invited for additional interviews and public forums tentatively planned for the week of October 10.

The new president will be expected to assume duties on or about January 3, 2023.

Addressing COVID-19 pandemic issues regarding remote instruction and work, and institutional processes, including a safe return to classroom instruction and in-person support, while assuring a proper mix of in-person and remote instructional options that optimizes educational outcomes for students.

2. About the College
Clovis Community College is the second largest college in the State Center Community College District, and one of the newest colleges in the California Community College System. The college provides the advantage of a medium-sized community college campus in a friendly and contemporary setting, and serves more than 13,000 students from the Fresno, Clovis and foothill communities with a variety of higher education learning opportunities. Clovis Community College provides a broad range of transfer and CTE curricula to meet the individual educational needs of our students and our community.

History
In response to the tremendous growth in the northeast Fresno and Clovis areas, the new 110 acre Clovis Community College opened for the 2007 fall semester. The 80,000 square-foot academic center one (AC1) includes a state-of-the-art open computer lab, multi-media labs, classroom facilities, art studios, assembly hall, and a variety of offices and student services.

Clovis Community College opened a second 80,000 square-foot academic center in July, 2010, that houses allied health, physics, and science laboratories, fitness center, dance studio, library/learning center, student services, offices and classrooms.

A $6 million licensed child care facility is available to students taking child development and pre-teaching courses. Funding was secured to construct the state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education Center through collaboration with the State of California, Clovis Unified School District, and State Center Community College District.

The campus has a bookstore and café for student and staff convenience. The college also includes the Clovis Community College, Herndon Campus, located approximately 4 miles from the main campus to provide additional classroom space and better access for community members who live closer to that location.

The College is currently building a 68,500 square-foot Applied Technology building that will provide additional classroom and lab space. It will include several science labs, classrooms, a state-of-the art digital media center and open computer lab, mechatronics, occupational therapy assistant, a large lecture hall/performance room, a large meeting room, and a variety of office and student study space.

Comprehensive Programs Designed to Help Students Meet Their Goals
A large number of students attend Clovis Community College to fulfill their general education requirements and prepare for transfer to four-year institutions. In addition, the college offers a variety of career technical programs leading to certificates and associate degrees reflecting the most current job skills and local employer demand.

Honors and AwardsClovis Community College has been honored statewide four years in a row as a Champion of Excellence for excelling in the number of associate degrees for transfer (ADTs) earned (based on enrollment). The college was also named a 2021 Equity Champion for its exemplary work in awarding Associate Degrees for Transfer to Latinx student at our campus. Clovis Community College was recently named a 2022 Champion for Excelling in Equitable Course Placement in Campus-wide English Enrollment for our success in enrolling 100% of Latinx and 100% of Black students directly into transfer level English coursework. The College was also selected to compete for the 2023 Aspen Institute Community College Excellence Award.

About the DistrictClovis Community College is one of four colleges comprising State Center Community College District, which also includes Fresno City College, Reedley College and Madera Community College.
