Job Description

Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Director for Education and Prevention Services, this position supports the success and personal development of students with coordination of evidence-based and theory-driven health promotion initiatives. This includes the planning, implementation, and evaluation of health promotion strategies, policies, programs, interventions, and services that create an environment where students can learn, grow, and succeed. This position will focus primarily on the promotion of mental/emotional health, suicide prevention, and with provide supervision to a full-time mental health initiatives coordinator. This position will also provide dual supervision to and collaboration with 5 residential wellbeing coordinators in conjunction with the residential wellbeing model. This is a unique role that combines both mental heath and public health training.

Required Qualifications

A master’s degree in Counseling, social work, or public health with experience in mental health.
• Demonstrated success working collegially and collaboratively with diverse internal and external constituencies.
• Evidence of the ability to provide leadership and problem-solving skills in analyzing mental/emotional health promotion and suicide prevention initiatives.
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills, including experience with public speaking/presenting and small group facilitation.
• Experience conducting needs assessments and using results to guide programmatic decisions and budget allocations.
• Experience conducting literature reviews, program evaluations, interpreting findings, and developing plans to programmatically and strategically respond to the findings.
• Experience developing and administering mental health promotion initiatives.
• Strong interest in topics related to mental health, stress and mindfulness
• Experience leading/facilitating mental health support groups
• Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
• Supervision experience
• Available to work some nights and/or weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certification in Mental Health First Aid, QPR suicide prevention, ASIST, etc.
• Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and/or Certified in Public Health (CPH)
• Licensed counselor (LPC, LCSW, etc.)
• History of verified active membership in relevant professional associations (e.g. ACHA, APHA, NASPA, SOPHE, ACA, ASCA, APA etc.)
• Experience with violence prevention in a higher education setting
• Experience working in a college/university setting.
• Experience leading peer educators
• Experience with personnel training, especially college-age students.
