Sheri Sobrato Brisson Professor of Child and Adolescent Mental Health

DEPARTMENT OF COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY

Overview:
Santa Clara University's Department of Counseling Psychology (SCU CPSY) in the School of Education and Counseling Psychology invites applications for three faculty positions as it deepens its commitment to preparing therapists in the broad area of Child and Adolescent Mental Health. This commitment includes a new specialization and enhanced curricular offerings for students, an endowed professorship, scholarship support for students as well as funding to support research, student engagement, and public outreach. The department is seeking to hire 1) a tenured Associate/Full Professor for the Sheri Sobrato Brisson Professor of Child and Adolescent Mental Health to lead a new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialization; and 2) two tenure-track Assistant Professors with a specialization in child and/or adolescent psychology. We are one of the nation's premier master's programs for licensed therapists (MFT and LPCC). Our department offers a collegial faculty that emphasizes outstanding scholarship, teaching, clinical work, and professional service in the spirit of enhancing society.

Professor of Child and Adolescent Mental Health:
We seek applications for an accomplished, mid-career or later (advanced Associate or Full) Professor with a strong vision for mental health care for children and adolescents and experience working with children and adolescents in a clinical setting, as well as a strong track record of research in this area. We seek someone who will guide the growth of an innovative Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialization. The multifaceted nature of this position provides a unique opportunity to creatively blend teaching, research, and outreach, with the ultimate goal of elevating the department with a leading program in the field of child/adolescent therapy. The position has four primary goals: 1) to lead and expand the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialization; 2) to integrate cutting-edge scientific and clinical expertise into the program; 3) to interface with the community to highlight the mental health needs of children and adolescents; and 4) to support child and/or adolescent mental health research. The specific area of focus within child and adolescent mental health is open, although applicants whose work includes a focus on the needs of BIPOC or other vulnerable communities are particularly welcome. This position primarily focuses on developing and expanding the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialization and includes substantial financial support for students, research, and outreach, as well as a reduced teaching load.

Application review will begin September 1, 2022 until the position is filled. For further details and to submit an application visit the SCU portal.
