Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
Under direction of the Senior Director of Development and in close concert with the school's Dean, the Director of Development (DOD) will represent Utah Valley University and the Woodbury School of Business to external parties including business leaders, alumni, donors, and prospective donors. The Director of Development will staff the Dean at various functions within the university and in the local community; will focus on engagement with local, regional, national, and international businesses, and other appropriate organizations; will create a fundraising strategy grounded in best practices that will establish appropriate development priorities.

The DOD is one of eight across campus who is assigned to a specific unit and responsible for major, principal, and planned gift fundraising and will join a growing development team of 16+ professionals who will be raising philanthropic funds for the university's inaugural comprehensive campaign, which will launch publicly in October 2022. Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a related discipline plus three years of staff level experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling seven years.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Knowledge of and significant direct experience with fundraising procedures, techniques, and the ability to apply this knowledge in fundraising.
* Knowledge of higher education operations, governance, and culture.
* Experience with administration, including methods and techniques for the preparation and analysis of budgets and the review of expenditure with conformity with budgets.
* Strong knowledge of effective web-based search engines and search strategies.
* Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills.
* Strong aptitude with standard office productivity software, which must include MS Office programs
* Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
* Demonstrated the ability to work with business, philanthropic, and community leaders.
* Ability to think conceptually, globally, and understand the comprehensive operation of an institution of higher education.
* Ability to effectively manage records and databases.
* Ability to appropriately represent the dean/unit leader and the interests of their unit.
* Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community and a strong strategic planner and critical thinker; exceptionally collaborative and team-focused; possess a professional outlook and keen sense of accountability for their efforts; and be highly energetic, focused, and outcomes-oriented.
* Ability to plan effective development strategies for donors.
* Ability to travel to UVU’s various campus locations and attend local and national meetings.
* Ability to travel with the Dean to represent the school at various functions across the state and country.
* Ability to obtain transportation to meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a comprehensive capital campaign preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Ability and willingness to undertake extensive travel and to work extended hours as necessary.
Lifting: Up to 10lbs
Valid Driver’s License and the ability or means to travel to meetings at other sites related to the nature of this position.

Pay Range: $67,283 - $89,823
