Job Summary
The College of the Arts at Columbus State University is conducting a search for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Animation within the Department of Art.

The Department of Art is NASAD accredited and is uniquely positioned within the RiverPark Campus in a growing state-of-the-art complex of educational, studio, gallery and performance spaces that are considered among the finest in the Southeast. The College of the Arts and the RiverPark Campus represent a significant emphasis on the arts, collaboration, community partnerships and excellent private funding. The college complex establishes Columbus State University's arts program as a vibrant presence in the revitalized uptown area and contributes to urban renewal, sustainability, and a progressive cultural environment. One of the South's largest design conferences, “Creative South”, is hosted annually each spring just blocks away from campus.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching all undergraduate levels of Animation and should be well versed in contemporary animation theory and practice.

Required Qualifications
An MFA in Animation or a closely related field of study is required. Candidates should possess strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative department that regularly hosts programs such as the All-State Art Symposium, the National Art Honors Society conference, a visiting artist and scholars residency program, and contemporary exhibitions. Candidates should demonstrate ability in teaching all levels of animation and digital foundations. Three years of successful teaching and related professional experience are preferred, which may include graduate teaching assistantships.

Demonstrated expertise and professional experience should include industry-standard animation software. Experience with both 2D and 3D animation preferred. Qualified candidates must be able to teach project organization, traditional concepts of animation, computer hardware/software requirements, visual development and story development for animation, and animation preproduction, production, and post-production. An ability to teach all aspects of the animation production pipeline is advantageous. Experience in any related areas such as digital art, film, or video, are desirable but not required. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in practices that support the University's focus on student engagement and active learning.
