Rowan University invites applications to support the development of field education for the MSW program launch in 2023. This full-time non-tenured teaching faculty member will join a growing team beginning in the Fall of 2022 in an open rank position (Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Master Lecturer). Rowan University offers undergraduate academic programs in human services, emergency management, law and justice, psychology, sociology and other related fields, and has a comprehensive network of partner programs. These programs provide a solid foundation for innovative and collaborative social work practice. The full-time non-tenured Open Ranked Lecturer, Field Education Coordinator will provide field coordination in accordance with CSWE standards including recruiting agency placements, orienting agency field instructors, interviewing and placing students, orienting students, maintaining field manuals, and overseeing curriculum for field seminar courses. The workload at Rowan University is equivalent to 12 credit hours per semester. Teaching load for this position will be 9 semester hours (including the internship course) and the remaining hours will be dedicated to program development or other service determined by department needs and director discretion. Courses may be offered online or in-person, depending on program and student needs. While the position is formally housed in the Department of Sociology & Anthropology, the appointment is in the Master of Social Work program in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. The position will also support our program offerings in Camden and other partner locations and travel to agency sites is required. Successful candidates will be licensed in social work with at least two years post-MSW experience and have experience as a field coordinator, field instructor or field liaison. Prior experience teaching at the college/ university level and Doctoral education preferred.

Position Requirements:

• MSW from a CSWE accredited program, plus at least two years post master’s practice experience required;
• Evidence of teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students;
• Excellence in field education and familiarity with CSWE requirements;
• A blend of scholarly practice and agency/ field knowledge;
• Professionally engaged in state, regional, national, or international organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Highest level of licensure;
• Doctorate in social work or related degree preferred (ABD considered)
• Experience in online teaching, learning, and curriculum design;
• Knowledge of local agencies and providers and experience with interdisciplinary/ transdisciplinary practice;
• Experience as a field coordinator, field instructor or field liaison.

Social Work at Rowan:

• General Information: Lecturer, Open Rank are 10-month positions with separate summer compensation. While this is a non-tenure track position, the initial 2-year contract is renewable, with expectations for continuing renewal of two, three, four, and then five years per contract. In addition, the position has a promotion path and includes benefits.
