Position Vacancy: Director of the Center for Healthy Families 

Rank: Assistant Clinical Professor (Non-Tenure Track) 

The Department of Family Science, School of Public Health, University of Maryland, College Park seeks a  full-time (12 month) non-tenure track faculty member (Assistant Clinical Professor) to direct all administrative, fiscal, and clinical operations of the Center for Healthy Families, the couple and family  therapy clinic housed in the Department. The candidate should be able to: (1) manage the operations of all clinical activities (e.g., therapy services, clinical supervision, in-service trainings, recording and electronic records systems, etc.), (2) teach, mentor and supervise students; and (3) provide relevant service to the department, university and profession. 


Qualifications: Candidates must hold a master’s degree in marriage/couple and family therapy. The candidate must be a licensed marriage and family therapist (eligible for licensing in Maryland), be a clinical member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and hold AAMFT approved supervisor status. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to collaboration, cultural competence and community engagement. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of clinical experience and will have demonstrated excellence in clinical practice, administration, and teaching/mentoring. The ideal candidate will have a record that is consistent with the Department’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice. Fluency in Spanish is preferable. 


Responsibilities: The successful candidate will oversee all fiscal, administrative, instructional, and clinical  activities in the Center for Healthy Families including but not limited to directing client intakes and case  disposition; overseeing and managing client records including assessments, HIPAA and legal procedures;  developing and implementing clinic policies and procedures; working with department administrative  staff on clinic financial management; direct supervision of graduate student therapists; hire and manage  external supervisors; maintenance of digital and recording systems, website, clinical resources, and  physical space; work with the department and school to promote the clinic; promote cooperative  community programming; and organize and oversee in-service training. Additional primary responsibilities include teaching courses, mentoring students, and professional/university service. 


Salary and Appointment Date: This is a 12-month appointment; salary is commensurate with qualifications. Appointment will begin in August 2022 or on a mutually agreed-upon date.
