About the Position

This position will coach multiple teams within the strength & conditioning program under the guidance of the head strength & conditioning coach. An assistant coach will also assist in data management of student-athlete performance profiles, facility supervision, equipment upkeep, student-athlete mentoring and assist in the recruitment of future student-athletes.

What You'll Do

Coaching (80% of the time)
  • Prepare, plan, conduct, and evaluate strength and conditioning sessions in conjunction with the head strength and conditioning coach.
  • Teach progressions and drills during daily team sessions.
Administrative (20%)
  • Collect, analyze, and upkeep performance profiles of all student-athletes participating in the strength and conditioning program.
  • Help maintain all equipment in the Pamplin Sports Center - Weight Room.
  • Supervise facility during assigned work hours.
Must Haves
  • Bachelor's degree in related field.

  • A strength and conditioning certification from an accredited organization (i.e., CSCS or CSCC).

  • Past playing and/or coaching experience.

  • Ability to teach, motivate, evaluate, supervise, and mentor.

  • Ability to coach at the intercollegiate level.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrate a philosophy that emphasizes a progression for student-athletes.

  • Acceptance of all individuals and a commitment to valuing and helping create a diverse community.

  • First Aid & CPR certification (provided annually by the department)

  • Thorough understanding of NCAA Division III academic standards, admissions and financial aid procedures.

  • The successful candidate will possess a sound commitment to the academic and athletic mission of the College, along with the ability to teach, motivate, evaluate and recruit high caliber well-qualified student-athletes.

Nice to Haves
  • Master's degree in related field
  • Experience teaching physical education activity classes.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with coaching experience at the intercollegiate level.

Physical Requirements
  • The job works primarily in a collegiate weight room setting and involves activities requiring lifting, climbing or working in tiring positions.
  • Bending, kneeling/squatting, twisting, climbing (stairs), standing, driving, sitting, walking, grasping/gripping, pinching/squeezing, reaching, push/pulling, repetitive hand movements (e.g., typing), seeing, talking, listening .
