The Assistant Director supports student success by expanding student engagement in internships & professional experiences in OHIO’s professional colleges (College of Business, Russ College of Engineering, Patton College of Education, College of Health Sciences & Professions). This role manages Guarantee+ Graduation Plan milestones related to experiential learning. The Assistant Director directly mentors individual students & College-affiliated student organizations in preparing for, engaging in, and reflecting on experiential engagement. This position is highly collaborative, serving as a connecting point between students, faculty & staff of assigned Colleges, and the central experiential learning office.

Duties include:

  1. Manage Story Builder milestones in OHIO Guarantee+ graduation plans and tracking of experiential engagement through batch processes and follow-up with individual students & other stakeholders.
  2. Liaise with academic units to identify & support existing experiential learning opportunities (ELOs), and identify new opportunities to expand the Colleges’ ELO portfolios. Maintain data integrity of available opportunities in centralized ELO database.
  3. Collaborate with associate directors and core partners (Career Engagement, Community Engagement, Global Opportunities, Research & Creative Activity, etc.) to offer programming and low-credit courses as relevant to Colleges’ emergent needs.
  4. Contribute to development and implementation of University-wide guidelines for internships including recommendations for crediting, mentorship, host site agreements, and accessibility of summer opportunities.
