Description

The Department of Health Administration and Policy in the School of Health Sciences at the University of New Haven is seeking to hire a Non-Tenure Track Lecturer for Health Sciences. Preferred areas of specialization include quantitative analysis such as epidemiology, statistics, and health economics. This is a position to be filled for Fall (August) 2022. 

 

This position will support the BS in Health Sciences program. The program emphasizes training future healthcare leaders to be patient-centered and interdisciplinary. Our curriculum is design to encourage applied learning and building competencies in demand in the workforce, including training students in interpersonal skills as well as technical skills. The program was launched in Fall 2018 and has quickly grown to an enrollment of over 130 students. The Department is also home to an undergraduate program in public health, as well as graduate programs in healthcare administration, public health, and a doctorate of health sciences. 

 

The School of Health Sciences offers a vibrant and diverse clinical and research atmosphere where academic and clinical faculty provide students with the highest level of professional training in the classroom, clinic, and in the community setting. The School of Health Sciences has strong relationships with multiple health systems and public health entities in the southern New England region that provide ample opportunities for research, community partnerships, and other collaborations. The School of Health Sciences offers degrees at the bachelors, masters, and doctoral levels. We are dedicated to achieving programmatic excellence through cultural diversity. 

 

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach 6 undergraduate-level health science courses per academic year, develop a research program that engages students, publish in peer-reviewed journals, seek external grant funding, and actively participate in institutional and professional service. Service responsibilities may include advising students, serving as a faculty advisor to student clubs, identifying internship placements, serving on departmental, college and university level committees, and other duties as assigned. Qualifications

  • Applicants must have an earned doctorate in health sciences, public health, or a related discipline (PhD, DrPH, EdD, DHSc, MD), Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and innovation, including active-learning and engagement of students with diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills – in the classroom, with colleagues, in written work, and in listening, Proficiency using at least one statistical software package, Experience with course and program development, including navigating a university curriculum approval process, Demonstrated ability to forge relationships and participate in the development of the BS in Health Sciences program, and Demonstrated ability to engage in innovative research involving students.
