Job Summary

The CU Children's Center is looking for an On-Call/Substitute Child Care Aide ! This position will work directly with children ages 6 weeks through 5 years of age alongside an Early Childhood Educator I and/or II. The center serves families affiliated with the University of Colorado including residents of Family Housing Apartments, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. The Children’s Center is licensed through the Colorado Department of Social Services.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Health & Safety
  • Aide in providing a safe environment by inspecting and communicating to Early Childhood Educator (ECE) I, II or the director the condition of indoor/outdoor materials and equipment.
  • Instruct safety precautions and regulations to classroom children. Maintain health standards following procedures for food preparation, diapering, medication administration, etc.
Child Supervision
  • Under the guidance of ECE I and/or II, supervise and interact with children in the classroom by implementing age-appropriate planned activities such as music, art, math, language, science, movement, dramatic play, and spontaneous or multicultural activities.
  • Use appropriate guidance techniques under the direction of ECE I and/or II. Provides time regularly to ECE I and/or II to allow for planning time, meetings, breaks, vacations, illness and other tasks away from the classroom.
Communication
  • Maintain channels of communication with teaching teams and office in an effective manner.
  • Develop good relationships with parents by communicating in a friendly manner at drop off and pick up time. Refer parents to ECE I or II when necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all communication. Complete written reports as necessary including notes, accident reports, attendance, etc.
Professionalism
  • Assure continual professional growth by attending staff in-services, workshops, and conferences.
  • Complete all department required trainings and 15 hours of licensing training requirements. Keep training log up to date.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working with different teams and handling a variety of situations.
  • Remain current on certifications including CPR, First Aid, UP, and Child Abuse.
What You Should Know
  • This position provides substitute coverage for teacher vacations and sick time. As such, there is not a set schedule.
  • All University of Colorado Boulder employees are required to follow the campus COVID-19 vaccine requirement .
    • New employees must provide proof of vaccination or receive a medical or religious exemption within 30 days of employment.


What We Can Offer
  • Starting pay is $15.50 - $16.50 per hour.
  • This position is eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus.

What We Require

Infant Staff Aides must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.

What You Will Need
  • Ability to:
    • Provide a high-quality environment nurturing a diverse population of children ages 6 weeks through age five.
    • Work as a part of a team with a positive demeanor and growth mindset.
    • Pass and remain current on state required trainings/certifications.
    • Bend, lift and pickup babies, toddlers and children (up to 50 pounds).


What We Would Like You To Have

Experience working with infants and/or small groups of young children unrelated to applicant.
