Northwood University seeks a dynamic individual with strong interpersonal skills to serve as a Learning Designer. The Learning Designer will provide instructional design and educational technology support to faculty and staff across the University. The Learning Designer will participate in professional development, training, curriculum and course development, and related projects to advance learning initiatives in the undergraduate, graduate, and international programs.

Key Responsibilities

· Applies teaching and learning best practices and instructional design theory to assist in course design and instructional materials development.

· Trains and supports faculty on the use of various educational technologies.

· Supports faculty with the integration of digital materials (i.e., textbook materials, open educational resources, external homework platforms, etc.) into courses.

· Provides accessibility recommendations and support for course components and University resources.

· Assists faculty with LMS, publisher, and other course-related resource requests and tool integration.

· Develops training, Knowledge Base, faculty workshop, and professional development resources and materials.

· Facilitates College of CFE courses, including grading, responding to questions, and updating content.

· Assists with and contributes to curriculum planning and development as needed.

· Assists in the planning of professional development and other CFE activities under the direction of the Assistant Academic Dean.

· Provides planning and logistical support for the Professional Development Advisory Committee and serves as a committee member.

· Supports University departments with the integration and management of institutional assessments.

· Completes other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

· A minimum of a BS/BA degree in Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Technology, or related field

· Advanced knowledge of instructional design, learning theories, and instructional technologies

· A minimum of one year of experience of developing quality online, hybrid, and/or face-to-face courses.

· Experience using a learning management system

· Advanced interpersonal and written communication skills

· Comprehensive technical knowledge and experience with using and supporting Windows platform, browsers, Microsoft Office, and other relevant business software systems

Preferred:

· Master’s degree or higher in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field

· Minimum of two years’ classroom instruction in higher education

· Certification in Quality Matters (QM) and/or Online Learning (Sloan C) Consortium

· Minimum of three years’ experience utilizing Blackboard
