Job Description Summary

Responsible for receiving, handling, storing, retrieving and transporting the equipment, publications, supplies and other commodities as necessary to meet the logistical requirements of the College.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required
  1. High School diploma.
  2. Two years’ experience or required course work/certification with powered and non-powered material handling equipment operation.
  3. Two years’ experience in receiving, shipping and distributing parcels and freight items.
  4. Two years’ experience processing of documents associated with incoming and outgoing items.


Preferred
  • OSHA Fork lift operator certification desired
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Basic knowledge in the use of office computers
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively execute detailed oral and written instructions
  • Ability to perform physically strenuous activity for sustained periods.
  • Able to individually lift maneuver 50 pounds
Criteria

CRITERIA : The following criteria, which are not the sole criteria used in the final hiring decision, will be used to review the applications of those persons who meet the stated minimum qualifications and to select those qualified applicants who will be interviewed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Off-loads and on-loads freight shipments.
  • Prepares material for handling and/or shipment to include pallet build-up; shrink-wrapping and equipment tie-down.
  • Delivers and retrieves materials, furnishings, equipment, etc., at the main campus, satellite locations, and commercial vendor locations.
  • Operates trucks, forklifts, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other specialized material handling equipment.
  • Relocates office/classroom furnishings and equipment in support of administrative requirements.
  • Performs asset inventories.
  • Performs basic computer and clerical operations in support of warehouse record keeping requirements.
  • Performs general warehouse facility and vehicle upkeep.
  • Performs related work as required
Job Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Ability to perform physically strenuous activity for sustained periods.
  2. Able to individually lift maneuver 50 pounds.
  3. Physical dexterity and mobility are essential in the execution of duties as required in the warehouse environment.
  4. Valid class C motor vehicle operator’s license
  5. Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  6. As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  7. A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
