Job Description Summary
Responsible for assisting the Natatorium Manager with ensuring that all swimming pools and related areas are operating above the minimum standard set forth by local, state and/or national agencies. Also responsible for the internal operation and management of the Natatorium by maintaining a safe, clean and functioning facility for the patrons, the instructors and the students that use Natatorium. The Coordinator plays a vital role in the programming and daily operations of the facility.

No significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.

Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- High School Diploma
- American Red Cross Lifeguard certification including CPR /PR/ AED and First Aid
- Prince George’s County Health Department Pool and Spa Operator’s License
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor Certification.
- One year of experience as a pool manager and a pool operator,
preferably at a multi-functional facility. A comparable amount
of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum
qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English
- Ability to pass a Lifeguard water skills test
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work with a diverse, multi-ethnic student, staff and general public clientele
- Ability to provide support for a professional teaching staff
- Ability to work with common hand tools
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Basic knowledge of weights and measures
- Able to work flexible days, evenings and weekends
- Willing to work overtime as required

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Opens and closes the facility ensuring that the natatorium is properly prepared for daily operation and properly secured
- Identify and implement critical customer service standards in support of the college’s vision, mission and strategic plan.
- Verifies front bank and passes
- Assists the natatorium manager with maintaining all required certifications and licenses
- Maintains pass sales log and sub list
- Aids in administrative matters of program and record keeping
- Reviews for correctness sign in sheets and daily attendance reports
- Maintains pass sales log, sub list, weight room assumption of risk forms list, swim test list, staff list, certification list and training log.
- Responsible for assigning, and assisting when needed, the setting up and taking down of equipment, adjusting pool floor, lane markers and bulkhead for activities and swim meets.
- Create weekly staff schedules
- Responsible for maintaining staff accountability as it pertains to tardiness and staffing issues.
- Evaluate and supervises all assigned staff; performance management of all staff under supervision, delivery goals and expectations measuring performance.
- Supervises pool operators, desk attendants and lifeguards
- Responsible for reserving, organizing and coordinating rentals and overseeing necessary rental requirements and logistics
- Assures that all Prince George’s county health department regulations, natatorium rules and college policies are followed.
- Creates, implements, oversees and conducts in-service training of staff as well as testing lifeguard proficiency.
- Inventories supplies and needed repairs to inform natatorium manager
- Prepares training schedule for assigned staff to include but not limited to; customer services, computer skills, lifeguard, pool care, gym care, school dude requests, reporting maintenance issues and conflict management.
- Responsible for receiving and depositing payment for facility rentals and for services rendered.
- Assists the natatorium manager with providing fiscal data on revenue generated per quarter from reservations made by internal and external customers.
- Create forms and reports to aid in the operation of the natatorium
- Handle pool chemicals safely and update the chemical list for college administration that is required by the state.
- Performs operational facility checks during those times when the college is closed for holidays and breaks.
- Assists the natatorium manager with weekly and monthly reports
- Responsible for the daily closeout of the cash register and additional monies outside of rentals
- Performs lifeguard, desk attendant and pool operator duties as necessary
- Oversees the handling of passes, daily admissions and attendance records
- Verifies the reconciliation of deposit and daily account forms
- Inspects the cleanliness of the natatorium and advisee facilities management as needed
- Interprets rules and regulations pertaining to all aspects of the natatorium and its facilities including college and state policies, county and health department codes and insurance requirements.
- Monitors air and water temperatures and have adjustments made as needed
- Ensures the competence and eligibility of lifeguards through interviewing and water testing lifeguard applicants
- Assists the lifeguards with the daily maintenance and cleaning of the natatorium
- Responsible for complying with all required college mandated training within the prescribed timelines.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
