Kenyon College is conducting a search to fill the position of Assistant Director of Young Alumni Engagement. The Assistant Director of Young Alumni Engagement is part of a dynamic team within the Advancement division. The Alumni and Parent Engagement office (APE) oversees a wide variety of events, programs and virtual outreach designed to increase and support meaningful engagement for Kenyon’s alumni and parent communities.
This position focuses specifically on programming and outreach designed for Kenyon’s young alumni and current students. Nearly a quarter of Kenyon’s constituency of almost 19,000 alumni have yet to reach their 10th reunion, and include increasing numbers of diverse and first generation college graduates. Kenyon’s alumni demographics create an opportunity for innovative new programming designed to reach these young alumni (YA) audiences. Different strategies and emerging communication tools will be paramount to these efforts.

- As a member of the Young Alumni Team, develop and help implement young alumni strategy and outreach in collaboration with Associate Directors in Annual Giving and Alumni and Parent Engagement and the Assistant Director of Young Alumni Engagement. Serve as staff co-liaison for the Young Alumni Subcommittee of Alumni Council and the Kenyon Fund Executive Committee, which includes volunteer management of alumni members, co-leading meetings, overseeing projects, and guiding strategy. Serve as liaison for 5th and 10th reunions. Advance the College and division’s commitment to anti-racism, focusing on engaging a diverse constituency of young alumni volunteers. Support regional associations, including YA-focused networking receptions, athletics-focused events and other social and professional networking opportunities. Play an integral role in supporting the engagement of affinity and identity groups, most notably alumni of color, Greek alumni and varsity athletes. Plan and execute virtual events across a variety of topics and formats with a focus on the young alumni and student audience. Manage the capture of engagement metrics and report out data analytics to department and division. Serve as primary staff oversight of Kenyon alumni social media channels.
- Perform other duties and special projects as required as part of a collaborative and close-knit Alumni and Parent Engagement team within the Office of Advancement.

- Technologically savvy; ability to learn new software programs and interfaces quickly. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, student employees and volunteers. Be outgoing and open-minded and possess a professional attitude as well as a good sense of humor. Possess strong organizational skills with the ability to manage large, time-sensitive projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail and quality of work. Ability to develop new methods, adapt to the changing needs of the office, and establish appropriate procedures. Ability to meet deadlines under pressure; not easily frustrated.
- Typical office environment; must be able to use office equipment such as computer, printer, copier, etc. Must be able to lift up to 15 lb. Hybrid work environment opportunities with the option to work remotely for part of the week during most of the calendar year. Occasional night and weekend work and travel to regional events.
- Bachelor’s degree preferably from a liberal arts college with some experience in fund-raising, admissions, career services, alumni relations or a related field preferred. Must be able to initiate and maintain donor and volunteer relationships and communications on behalf of the College. Demonstrated record of creative problem-solving with examples of successful efforts in building constituent confidence and relationships.
